"DVH Turf Management provided service as well as or actually better than what we had originally expected. Service Tech Darren was wonderful, very courteous, professional, informative and helpful. Our lawn was initially all sodded three years ago. However, first thing - he did an immediate and thorough analysis and before I knew it, was applying a full chemical treatment of "weed & feed". Next, he pointed out sections of our lawn where undesirable grasses and weeds had taken root. He provided a full explanation for a long-term plan and controlled maintenance to bring our lawn back to health. So, I have to apologize for my previous hasty review and offer a BIG Thanks to DVH - Great Service. Also to note: there are at least four neighbors within a few houses of ours that are now utilizing their service."

"We found evidence of termite infestation. They responded quickly and inspected property the following day. Price was reasonable and employee was knowledgeable. He explained scope of work and options thoroughly. We added pest control as additional price was very reasonable. Work was performed the following day and we are satisfied with service."

"We hired this company to assist with a pest control. Very knowledgeable which make you feel very happy your getting what you pay for even though it's very expensive. We are supposed to receive multiple follow up visits so hopefully we do. If we don't, obviously our review will change."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

There are DIY methods and store-bought pesticides available for the public to use. However, these pesticides also come with a risk, and you need to follow the directions correctly and take precautionary measures to prevent exposure to these chemicals. These methods may be an option for small pest problems, but you should call in a pest control specialist for persistent pests and infestations.

Metal coil-shaped retriever tools (around $50) help remove empty nests and debris from chimneys. Unless you are sure the nest is vacant, we recommend calling in a pro to handle bird’s nest removal from chimneys, vents, roofs, and other hard-to-reach places.

When woodpeckers start banging on your walls or roof, they are probably looking for insects to eat, storing nuts for winter, drilling a hole to make a nest, or communicating with other birds to establish territory or find a mate.

The size of the hole can help determine the reason for the pecking. Small irregular holes are a result of insect hunts. Acorn holes are more consistently sized and often fitted with a nut in the middle. Nest holes are large and have rounded edges. If the bird is pecking to mark its territory or attract a mate, it may leave dents rather than holes, and the noise will stop when the mating season starts in spring.

When it comes to keeping birds from doing their business on your porch rails, you have several DIY options and home remedies you can try:

  • Tie a fishing line from one end of the deck post to the other. Birds won’t be able to see the line across the railing, so they can’t land on it.

  • Hang wind chimes close by, which may scare birds away.

  • Apply a bird gel repellent to the railings, which contains smells that birds generally don’t like. Or, similarly, you can apply citronella or lemon oil around the railings, since birds don’t like strong smells.

Legal considerations include adherence to local and federal wildlife protection laws, particularly for species that might be protected or endangered.
