"Mr. Thomas, Dwight and crew performed the level 2 chimney inspection (only/no sweep requested) and repaired the brick/masonry of the chimney, including repacing the flue liner and repair of the chimney box. They provided literature, kept me highly informed of status, arrival, appointments, and work progress. They also completed a beautiful job on my neighbor's chimney rebuild/replace. The work looks really great and it is apparent that Mr. Thomas, Dwight, and the masonry crew take pride in their workmanship and quality. The job was completed within 2 days and so far, everything is looks fantastic. Waiting for a cool day to crank up the fireplace. They also provided a professional lamination card and pen for reminders of next year's chimney sweep. I only slightly hit the value as I would have loved the inspection price to be part of the repair and the receipt, but overall, great experience, great A+ rating on BBB and both licensed and bonded. "First time needing a chimney sweep to service,. Easy to deal with over the phone, honest and open communication as high potential for weather delays if raining. Absolutely impressed with the attention to details and overall finished work. We have gone from a squeaky flu opening to gliding and almost silent, the steel box is glistening. We even got a lesson on how to best operate the fire to send the heat into the house instead of up the chimney. We will rebook for sure."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Challenges include ensuring structural safety, completing soot removal, meeting restoration codes, and effectively managing insurance claims.

Repairing a fire-damaged home could cost anywhere from $2,000 to $200,000 or more—it all depends on the extent of the damage and the quality of the materials you use. In most cases, your homeowner’s insurance company will cover the majority of the repairs. If you’re buying a home with fire damage, though, it’s best to get an estimate from a fire damage restoration company to estimate the repairs before closing.

To get rid of the smoke smell in a microwave, scrape off any burnt food residue and throw it away. Next, warm a cup of water in a microwave-safe container for three minutes. Then, dip a microfiber cloth into a mixture of water and a couple of drops of dish soap and wipe down the inside of the microwave. Dry the inside of the microwave with a fresh cloth and let everything air out for three hours.

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

Solar panels that haven’t been properly inspected and maintained pose several risks to homeowners. Firstly, a dirty, obstructed, or malfunctioning solar panel won’t be able to generate as much power, which could lead to power shortages and wasted money. But more importantly, neglected solar panel arrays can become dangerous if left for too long. Corroded wires and exposed circuitry are fire hazards, so it’s strongly recommended to keep up with regular maintenance to protect your home.
