"I couldn’t have been more pleased of the work that was done on my garage and home siding from Brackettry Homes. The attention to detail, focus on getting the job done and done right are to be commended. From day 1 to the final day of the project everyone that worked on our home was thoughtful and courteous of our families schedule and working to make our project great! Upon the start of the project their team found poor framework on our garage that was causing rot to set in. They immediately analyzed the issue and formulated a solution to the problem to fix it for the future. None of that was in the original job description, but they went above and beyond to make sure that we would have no future issues. That kind of attention to detail and thoughtfulness is what everyone should look for when hiring a contractor. We will definitely be using Brackettry, LLC for future roofing and home projects!!! Thank you!!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"We had some wind damage to the upper level. I placed a call on Wednesday. David responded back that day. He came to our house the next day on his way home from another job. Called me from house told me what it would cost to repair the damage. He made some suggestions on the repair. I gave him the green light over the phone based on the things we discussed. I got home he was finishing the job. Very nice guy and seems to be very good at what he does. I plan to share his contact information with others that I know. I would hire this guy back anytime to do work. D.L. Palmer very good contractor"

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"The guys were here early and worked all day.  They only took breaks for lunch and the paint to dry enough for a second coat.  Pedro, Orlando and his son were very friendly, courteous and careful in my home.  The price was so cheap compared to the other two bids, I almost didn't go with them. In fact, Anthony was the only one of the three bids that told me there would likely be a problem if they filled any holes in the wall paper because it had a texture to it; so the places we weren't going to hang pictures again we left alone.  With one coat of primer and two coats of paint, no one will ever notice any holes!  I will be calling Anthony anytime I need any more painting!!  They were great; 5 out of 5.  I have already recommended them to others but wish I had cards to hand out to close neighbors.  We are only 23 homes and we all know each other very well.  When any neighbors see that you are having work done, they always call to see how we liked the provider.

"I had 2 or 3 companies come out to give us a price and I was extremely impressed with Champion from the start.  They explained the entire process very well.  They answered all of the questions I had in a very professional and courteous manner.  The sun room is very well built and the professionalism they displayed is second to none.  Some siding tore off in a winter storm that was by no means their fault, and they came right out to replace that piece anyway.  I have owned a home for a while and have had a lot of work done.  This is by far the most enjoyable experience I have had with any contractors at my home."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Different types of siding provide unique aesthetic and structural features, with each material commanding its own cost. Availability of materials and shipping costs also factors largely into the cost. The common types of siding materials include:

  • Stucco: $7–$9 per square foot

  • Wood: $1–$15 per square foot

  • Engineered wood: $1–$6 per square foot

  • Aluminum: $3–$6 per square foot

  • Fiber cement: $5–$14 per square foot

  • Brick: $10–$20 per square foot

  • Brick veneer: $3–$10 per square foot

  • Stone: $7–$30 per square foot

  • Stone veneer: $5–$11 per square foot

You have several options you can choose from for climbing plants without damaging your siding. Climbing hydrangea and Carolina jessamine are two options, and jasmine, honeysuckle, and sweet pea are a few others. Look for these climbing plants to add lovely curb appeal and are less likely to cause damage to your siding.

While any dark color of vinyl is likely to fade, dark red and dark brown vinyl tend to fade faster and more noticeably compared with other dark colors. White is the color least likely to fade, but it will show stains, mildew, and dirt more prominently than darker colors.

Traditionally, you place a layer of ⅜-inch foam board beneath aluminum siding. This gives you a smooth surface to which you can fasten the trim and siding. Beneath the foam board, you should have some kind of waterproof sheathing to further protect your home from water damage. It’s possible this sheathing is already under your current siding.

Some homeowners use caulk on the edges of clapboard siding to help seal it. However, this method invites new problems. With so many gaps sealed, clapboard siding is often unable to drain properly and moisture from rain or other sources can build up inside. This can lead to rot and other issues over time. When repairing clapboards, it’s best to avoid caulking the final product. The exception is trim around windows and doors, which should be caulked to avoid moisture problems.
