"Ken, the owner of Northeast Dog Guard, was amazing. I have a very highly active and very fast large dog. She is 35 lbs., and we had her only 4 weeks when Ken came to our rescue. We have tried GPS collars (2 to be exact) and they were unpredictable. Our dog would run the GPS fence because one day it works and the next day it would not. The boundaries also shifted based on satellite positions. Not worth the expensive investment. Not with Ken’s and Northeast Dog Guard collar. He arrived on time on schedule, even on the rainiest day and worked with me and my large puppy to install and train her. Ideally, your concrete should set slightly above ground at an angle sloping away from the fence post. This will add extra support and allow water to run away from the wood fence post. Keeping water out will help prevent wood rot. Additionally, you can add soil on top of the concrete for a seamless finish.

Burying your garden fence deep into the soil is an important step that allows you to attach a wire barrier to the fencing. 

Burrowing animals (like voles, moles, rabbits, and gophers) can’t dig or chew through this wiring, meaning that you’ll be keeping your prized petunias or your robust veggie garden from being eaten.

If possible, it is beneficial to paint both sides of your fence to protect the fence more completely from the elements. Painting both sides of your fence will create a more consistent appearance as well. However, the time and cost involved in painting both sides of the fence may cause people to paint only the side they see.

You should dig a trench that’s 6 to 8 inches deep so that when the silt fence stands up, it has at least 6 inches below ground. It’s important to firmly bury your silt fence into the trench you’ve dug to keep water from running underneath the fence into the pile of soil you’re containing.
