"I would like to say if you need a plumber you will be in great hands. My 81 year old mother fell a few months ago and broke her leg, I needed to have a handicap toilet put in. I called Alex and told him my situation. He was there the next day installing it. He has a heart of gold and is an excellent plumber. He works on my house and my rental homes. (You will be happy to know him) he’s Also just put a new water system in our house that we love! No, you don’t need to use plumber’s putty to install a sink drain. Other options are available, such as silicone putty or silicone caulk. Plumber’s putty is the traditional method and it’s easier to work with and easier to remove. It doesn’t need to dry before using. Silicone putty should dry before you use the drain.

To keep window wells from filling up with water, you need to stay on top of maintenance. Remove debris as it fills up, and regularly loosen the gravel at the base if it’s become compacted. You can also reslope your yard to make sure water flows away from the window well (and your home’s foundation), and you can even install a window well cover to prevent debris from building up. Installing an actual drainpipe at the base of the well can also prevent window well drainage problems.

You can try several easy methods to unclog a drain, one of the easiest and most effective of which is to use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. This will help dislodge and dissolve the clog to move it down the drain pipes. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain, followed by 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Dump several cups of boiling water (or hot water if you have PVC pipes) into the drain and let sit for up to one hour. Run hot water to clear the drain.

If you don’t want to remove the sink stopper, pour ½ cup of baking soda and 2 cups of boiling water down the drain. Start by pouring 1 cup of boiling water, then the baking soda, followed by the remaining cup of boiling water. Use caution as boiling water can damage PVC or other plastic piping. Using a scrub brush or slightly abrasive sponge, clean the top of the stopper, and run the faucet to ensure the drain is clear and the stopper is clean.

When you remove the cap, you can access the sewer line directly or determine its direction, which can be helpful when you need to locate your sewer line from your house to the street.
