"Michael from SOS Electric is a very professional, nice young man. He helped us to install an extra line for a towel heater in the bathroom. He called a head, showed up on time, worked very efficiently, cleaned after his work and even helped me with another things. Thank you."

"Very satisfied! There was a storm brewing during the timeframe they were supposed to come out. Called and said we needed to reschedule. Was quickly resceduled to an agreeable time and day a couple of days away. They came out promptly and took care of the repalcements. We had the lights for them to install. All went well and would definitely use them again."

"There is nothing more important to senior citizens like ourselves than to hire a respectful, reputable and affordable electrician like Jon. He was prompt and efficient and diagnosed quickly what needed to be done, even changing out a fixture on his initial visit. He was honest in saying that one of our lamps was not worth repairing and put on order a cabinet light that he will soon replace,"

"We liked our interior design plan that we received , but it just took a long time to get the final plan.  She had told us in the beginning that she had gotten a big response to that deal.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.

  • Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.

  • Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.

  • Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.

  • Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.

  • Pathway lighting illuminates walkways, increasing safety.

Inspect for burnt-out bulbs, secure connections, and protect from water exposure to maintain functionality.

The cost to repair outdoor lighting typically ranges from $100 to $400. The final price depends on the severity of the damage, the specific issue, the type of lighting system, and the parts needed. Some repairs are priced per fixture, averaging $100 to $300, and there may be additional fees if the lighting is difficult to access.

To maintain your outdoor lighting and prevent major issues, you should regularly clean the fixtures, inspect the wiring and connections, and replace worn or burnt-out bulbs promptly. These simple steps ensure consistent operation and extend the life of your lighting system.

If you’ve gone through the troubleshooting checklist for your motion detector flood light and it’s still not working, it’s time to consider a new one. Older models that need frequent fixes can be unreliable. Newer flood lights feature advanced technology that improves your lights’ sensitivity and overall performance. If you’re fed up with unexpected darkness, investing in a new light can give you the lighting you need to feel secure.
