You should wait until your pavers have completely dried and cured before pressure washing them. Wait at least three to five days, though some sealants may need up to an entire week. Rushing that timeline can mess with the finish, weaken the seal, or leave streaks that are tough to fix. Once the sealant has fully set, stick to a gentle approach. Keep the pressure under 1,500 PSI and hold the nozzle at least two feet from the surface. Anything stronger or closer can blast the joint sand loose or wear down the sealant you just applied.

If you don’t thoroughly clean your deck surface before staining, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped on top of the wood. As well as looking unsightly, the stain won’t effectively penetrate the wood surface. You won’t have such a well-protected deck, and you’ll likely have to restain sooner. Beyond just the appearance and adhesion issues, any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage over time, ultimately shortening the lifespan of your deck and requiring costly repairs.

The amount of pressure, measured in psi, that you should use depends on what you’re washing. Very tough materials like concrete, stone, and masonry can handle a high psi of 2,500 to 3,000, but materials like wood require a bit of a lighter touch. To clean your wooden deck, you’ll want to use your pressure washer on the lowest setting, around 600 psi, especially if it’s made of soft wood like pine or cedar.

You should not use a pressure washer on any surface that it might damage. Examples include shingled roofs, glass, electrical components, and anything with a seal that might be stripped away by the pressure. There are a variety of different uses for a pressure washer. They're ideal for driveways, patios, garage floors, vehicles, fencing, gutters, and paint stripping.

You can put a gentle cleaner such as distilled white vinegar, dish soap, or a degreaser in your pressure washer in a detergent injector. The attachment will mix your detergent with the water and spray it out. If you have stubborn stains on your driveway, a gentle cleaner in the attachment can help dissolve and remove those stains.
