"Kevin and Anthony cleaned the fireplace chimney and repair the fireplace. They both were experts in their knowledge of chimneys and fireplaces. They were both very friendly and polite. I would recommend the Shamrock Chimney Company and I would definitely hire them again."

"We hired Inner Boston Masonry to repair our three chimneys. We felt Marl's price was fair and he could do the job within a good timeframe. While trying to repair one of the chimneys, the brick was crumbling and we needed to rebuild the chimney. His crew accomplished this extra repair efficiently as well. He did suggest that our roof needed to be reshingled as it had reached its lifetime limit. Mark's crew worked hard in very cold weather to reshingle the roof, even making repairs to the wood where it was beginning to rot. The roof and chimneys bot look great!"

"Living on Cape Cod & the islands limits us with options. I tried to get quotes from local vendors but was told my chimney is to large for their capabilities. Kings Masknary can by for an estimate and was able to diagnose the issues and put a plan in to fix it immediately. I was impressed that they worked thru a weekend in the cold to fix my problem. They did exactly what they said they would do and guaranteed their work for 20 years. What more could you ask for. Was great working with them and would call them again but now . What a great feeling to know that if there is an issue, they will stand by their work."

I have been in the roofing and construction industry my entire life, my father owns one of the most renowned construction companies in the area. I can do anything you would need done on your property cheaper than if you went with the bigger guys, and the same quality since I was the one working for one!

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Yes, pellet stoves can serve as a primary heating source in colder climates, provided they are properly sized for the space and maintained regularly. They are capable of generating sufficient heat to keep homes comfortable during winter months. However, in regions with extremely low temperatures, you may need supplemental heating to ensure consistent warmth, especially during prolonged cold spells.

Bioethanol fireplaces are safe when users follow the instructions and maintain the fireplace. Ethanol is flammable, however, and should be kept away from flammable surfaces, children, and pets.

A fireplace hearth is a fireproof flooring material that extends out from the base of the fireplace and into the room. Hearths can be made of brick, ceramic, marble, limestone, and more. A hearth serves the purpose of decreasing the fire risk in the area directly around the fireplace. If flying embers hit carpet or wood, they’ll spark and create a fire. But if they hit something like tile or granite, they’ll simply go out.

Ideally, your chimney cap should be at least 8 inches above the top of the flue, though it's better if it's even higher. You want it to sit that high because it won't affect the chimney's draft, which pulls the smoke up and out of your chimney and away from your home.

Yes, capped chimneys should still be vented. Failing to vent a chimney will result in condensation buildup inside the chimney, which commonly results in mold growth. If mold begins to grow in a chimney, it frequently goes undetected and spreads quickly through the home. Mold and moisture can damage the structural integrity of your home, and exposure to mold can cause discomfort and illness in residents.
