"Ryan did excellent work. He explained everything so I could understand it. In just a few hours he rewired my electric heating system in my duplex. For the first time since I moved here (14 months) my heat is completely off !! I would give him 10 stars if it was possible, but here I would give him 5 stars."

"On the positive side, they were punctual during the work and cleaned up everything themselves. It was, however, an average experience working with them because they did not ultimately do what they said they could do. Two rooms in my house have been cold - this situation was explained to RECOM several times, and a solution to it was requested. Before we "signed on dotted line" the rep told us that we would be happy with everything. After signing, the rep was not confident that our cold rooms would be any warmer. After the project was completed, the owner and a tech analyzed the cold room's delivery system and came up with a solution - the only problem was that it would have cost us an additional $3600. They also did not pull a permit for the gas line connection. I called them three times about the permit, but they have yet to respond. I thought the work was over priced and under delivered."

Energy Efficiency Auditing FAQs, answered by experts

The extra insulation helps reduce energy costs by minimizing drafts and temperature exchange between indoors and outdoors.

While some aspects of an appraisal, such as comparable properties nearby, are out of your control, there are several steps you can take to potentially increase your home's value. Make any necessary repairs and upgrades before the appraiser's visit, as they can only value what is currently part of the home, not its potential. Examples include renovating older areas, updating landscaping to boost curb appeal, and staging your home. You can also provide the appraiser with the cost of recent upgrades, which may increase your home's value by about 50% or more of what you paid for those improvements.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

Costs depend on pipe length, accessibility, and whether additional services are required.

Homeowners can often access federal tax credits, such as the Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which covers a percentage of installation costs. Many states and utilities offer additional rebates, grants, or performance-based incentives. These programs can significantly lower your upfront investment. Check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) or contact your local energy office for current offers.
