"I used Dharma Surface Cleaning last year to clean my whole roof and he did a great job. I used them again recently to clean gutters, he did a great job and also did a preventative roof treatment for free. Very good work and very reasonable prices."

Vinyl siding cleans up like new. It's the only maintenance you'll ever need to do. I do offer the option of a wax application which allows me to guarantee mildew and algae does not return for 2 years. If it does return I rewash at no charge.

"Initial impression was very good and friendly, and on the job, work was also very good, but clean up at the end could be much improved: residual white sticky caulk/glue on my brick pavers were not completely removed, and plenty of wood debris (from my old deck) and nails were left among my lawn and gravel stone areas."

"Jose and his crew came the same day as the job was requested and got the job down perfectly. One big tree over the electric wire was quite challenging but their crew cut the tree piece by piece without damaging any wire and near by structures. Brunches and debris were properly cleaned up after the work. Superb!"

Most building codes require that railing spindles (also known as balusters) on decks or stairs be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard is often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' which means a sphere with a 4-inch diameter should not be able to pass through the opening between balusters. This rule is in place to prevent small children and pets from slipping through the railing. For the same reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck or floor surface should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is essential to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.

When installing deck boards, screws are generally a better option than nails. Screws offer superior holding strength over time, keeping the boards securely in place. In contrast, nails are more likely to pop out, which can create a tripping hazard. While you can use either, we recommend using 3-inch galvanized deck screws. To minimize the risk of cracking the wood, it's a good practice to drill small pilot holes before driving the screws into the deck joists.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface. 

Building a deck isn't too hard if you’re handy with carpentry, have the necessary tools, and are willing to put effort into it. However, other factors, such as plans, permits, and design, can be hard if you don’t have experience in those areas.

Note: You’ll need another person to help you build the deck (especially for framing and setting the beams). Building a deck yourself will be very difficult if you don’t have an extra set of hands to help.
