"From the time I requested a quote to when the job was initiated was very quick. Erick’s team was professional, punctual, and paid great attention to detail. The plaster repairs needed weren’t minor, but the end results left my walls looking brand new. They also kept the workspace clean and were respectful of my home throughout the process."

"Colin and Eric did a wonderful job basically giving us all new walls in two areas of the house. It was a big job and done in the worst heat of the summer, but it went through great and as promised. Communication with Colin was very easy and clear, by phone, text or email. Good price (we had other quotes), delivered on time as promised. We are planning to have the rest of the house done already. Will repeat."

"I had an old external door that was broken. Bob replaced the door and did a great job around the broken concrete and dry wall. It was a small project but it went really well. I am happy with the new door."

"I hired these guys to repair drywall/plaster one of my walls. The response time was excellent and the they always showed up on time. Always cleaned up after themselves as well. 4 stars because they did not do a good job on the part of the wall around my outlet. The outlet was left too deep in the wall which was not how it was before the project. I was told I would have to fix this myself or hire someone else.."

"I spoke with Alex in the morning about what I was looking to have done, he came out later that day to provide us with a quote, within a couple of weeks they were able to come in and complete the job. Our ceilings that we had done look great, I would definitely recommend AOS Drywall and use them for future projects."

Customers say: Quick response

"After at least 30 years of major wear and tear, our bluestone patio around our swimming pool required a MAJOR restoration. The bids we got from folks ranged widely, but only Ion seemed to understand what it would take and came in with a more than reasonable bid. This was no small project and took over two weeks to complete, and every step of the way Ion and his one-person crew were on the job promptly each morning and took care to consult us on every issue that came up. He also took the time to make certain we could deal with various daily tasks and even a major crisis (our water heater tank broke, flooding the basement in week two -- meaning they had to deal with heavy traffic in and around their working area at times). Despite the tumult, the progressed nicely throughout.... The restoration itself looks wonderful and enhanced the look (and certainly the value) of the property. We were constantly consulted on decisions related to material and design, and the Ion's craftsmanship is evident in the final product. We highly recommend I.C. Masonry and Ion will be our first call whenever we have need for his skills."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Proper design and construction prevent erosion and add structural stability to landscapes.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

Regular inspection for issues like cracks or leaning and ensuring drainage stays clear.

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.
