"Arrived on time and fully prepared to replace the bulkhead entrance to the basement. Completed the job quickly and efficiently and completely cleaned up the work site when he was done. I was more than pleased with the job he performed and made an additional appointment fir him to return to do a different job."

"These guys are the greatest! They saved us a lot of money! We had a dumpster before the bullbag and for 3 tons of material and a week rental of the dumpster it cost us $486! We own the bullbag now, had a full bag - 3.5 tons - picked up and it was only $229! We didn't have any rental charges, excess weight fees, or anything! These guys did everything they said they would! OMG! Everyone should use these guys!!!!! Also, I got the bullbag back! I never have to buy another one and its ready to use whenever I feel like doing a clean out or renovation."

"Four different crews performed this work at four different times. The first three crews were excellent.  They took town two trees, ground the stumps and removed the wood.  The fourth crew was another matter. First of all, there were communication problems. The first crew should have removed the deadwood from the third trees, but they didn't necessitating the need for a visit by a four crew. I had to call to find out what was going on with this part of the project. The company sent an army to do a relatively small job, and in so doing, ran into a planter by the side of the driveway, and dug up a recently seeded, sprinklered area along the side of the driveway with the tires from their bucket truck. They did their best to put everything back together again. They nearly smashed the planter,  but thankfully, it survived. If they had talked to me before they had started work, we could have avoided these problems. While their bid was the lowest of three I received, and I would use them again, I would want to talk to them before having them come on my property again."

"The 1964 bulkhead I had out back was replaced a year ago, but the wood and insulation underneath (the ceiling of the walkway underground to my basement under the back living room) took in water damage and the area was very musty for years. Tom Morneault of Morneault Environmental was the only guy I could find that would not only treat the wood to remove anything growing on it/get rid of the smell, but his team also removed old wood and insulation and re-insulated for me as part of the deal, which was still hundreds of dollars cheaper than the other companies I talked to, which would only remove the old wood and insulation, they don't put anything back in. Tom's team was here by 8:30 this morning and by 2pm they were done and it looks fantastic and smells crisp and clean. They didn't even stop for breaks or have to make any trips to get supplies, they had them all in the van, including the insulation boards. Very highly recommended if anyone is in the same situation."

Garbage Removal questions, answered by experts

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

In some cases, it’s more cost-effective in the long run to replace a garbage disposal, but it depends on the specific issue you’re having and the age of your disposal. You should ask a garbage disposal repair tech for a quote to repair your appliance and then see if it would be more worthwhile to replace it. Additionally, garbage disposals last for around 15 years, so if you know your appliance is reaching that age, it’s likely better to pay for a new garbage disposal rather than sink money into repairs.

Garbage disposals can be considered bad for the environment due to their electricity usage, but good for the environment because they reduce the food waste sent to landfills. If everyone used a garbage disposal, it would tax the wastewater treatment facilities in that region, but if we had to choose one of the options, we’d say they are a net positive on the environment when used correctly.

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.
