"Scott did drywall/plastering repair for my bathroom and he installed a brand new vent I had purchased.. called me right away as soon as I requested the job and met me at Home Depot so I can by the materials I needed. His labor price was very fair. The job took 1 day and was perfect."

"Nana and is team are very considerate to the customers concerns. They are in constant motion fro the time the arrive to the time the end for the day. The work they perform is excellent and customer service is at the top of their list. I had ceilings in seven rooms, 2 bathrooms 2 halls and a stairway with popcorn ceilings removed and plastered. They covered the carpet and flooring as well as covering items that could not be moved. Clean up was good and only residual dust was needed to clean up. I would hire them again if i had a project in their specialty. I would also recommend them without any reservation. Good guys, friendly, proficient and dependable."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Plaster is a pretty tough surface, but it can still sustain damage from things like bumping against it, water issues, dampness, extreme humidity changes, and plain old age. Most plaster walls last hundreds of years and will only be taken down to the base layer when major repairs are required. Being cautious around the wall, not placing furniture against it, and ensuring stable humidity are all great ways to reduce possible damage.

The short answer is yes, a sagging plaster ceiling is dangerous. Sagging plaster on a wall is something you should fix immediately, but it isn’t a major concern. If the same type of sagging occurs on a ceiling, however, you could be in danger of your ceiling falling in large chunks. When plaster sags, it loses its strength and ability to hold itself up. The bonds that hold it together are strong, though, so if a sagging area falls, it will take large pieces down with it.

Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.

Repairing plaster walls or ceilings is almost always worthwhile. It restores the appearance of your home, and if it's an exterior wall, the repair can improve curb appeal and provide a great return on investment when selling. Plaster repairs can also reinforce the wall, preventing minor cracks from spreading, and improve your home’s energy efficiency by fixing gaps in the insulative material, potentially lowering your heating and cooling bills. Additionally, hiring a professional allows them to check if the damage is from a serious underlying issue, such as foundation instability. Catching a problem like this early could save you thousands.

Common causes include water leaks, settling, and impact. Address underlying issues to prevent recurring damage.
