"We hired John to repair our master bathroom. There was rot and ants behind the walk-in shower as well as some mold and damage to one of the wall boards and some floor tile damage. We decided to remove the shower and make it a 1/2 bath instead since the room was a little too small to begin with. John and his subcontractors were prompt, on time, and on budget. He did an amazing job matching up the flooring, eliminating the shower, and installing a linen closet it its place. The entire job, from demo through finish, took them less than a week and it came out perfectly. I'm very happy with the results and would hire John and team again in a heartbeat."

"They came to rebuild our back porch. It came out so good that we asked them if they could do the front one too! They did! Both turned out great. People walking by say “Your house looks terrific!” My neighbor who is very picky had a look as things progressed on each one and told us “This is a top notch job” We were kept advised about every facet of things in a group chat that Ryan set up — and any questions were answered quickly. The work is great. The outcome is exactly what we asked for and more. The price was fair and reasonable. The workers were all cordial and efficient. The yard was left clean and tidy upon completion. We are using both porches and love them. Only complaint we have is why didn’t we do this earlier. We will do business with Level Builders again."

Hello,\n\nMy name is Adam. \n\nI just started my own LLC doing carpentry. I’ve done carpentry throughout my life, and professionally for three years. I have also worked as a fireman, and rock climbing guide, a painter, and a cobbler. I enjoy using really big saws (of all kinds, chainsaws included) and working with big pieces of timber. I love making my work clean and precise. I also enjoy making big oil paintings and stretching my own canvases. Angi asked me to write a little about myself. How’s that?

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.
