Water-based enamel paints tend to dry faster, in less than 8 hours, while oil-based enamel paints may take 24 hours. Oil-based enamel tends to be more durable and retain its shine for longer than water-based enamel paint.

If you have a can or two of paint that's past its prime, replacing it shouldn't be too expensive. A gallon of paint costs an average of $25. You may pay more if you want a superior quality paint or if you choose oil-based paint instead of latex or acrylic.

When done correctly, a roller or paint sprayer can be used to paint stucco. Rolling paint works well on smaller projects, while a sprayer is more efficient for larger jobs.
