"The owner called me promptly and came on time. He listened to my ideas and made good suggestions. He built a patio that is beautiful. He incorporated our wheelchair ramp into our landscape design so it does not stick out but enhances the design. He was on time and open to additional work at the end of the project. We are planning on hiring him in the future."

"Michael is fantastic! We already hired him twice for electrical projects. He?s timely, responsive, professional, knowledgeable and efficient. He also keeps to his quote commitments and was very reasonable on overage when two projects went beyond the original work scope. My new go to guy"

Exterior Lighting questions, answered by experts

While wet-rated and damp-rated lighting is designed to handle contact with moisture, there’s a difference between the two. Wet-rated lighting is safety-rated to be placed in areas with direct exposure to water, including your shower. Fixtures classed as wet-rated are made with waterproof seals to protect the filament and other electrical components from water and moisture.

Damp-rated fixtures can be used in places with some moisture contact, but not direct exposure. They don’t have the same waterproof seals used in wet-rated fixtures. Damp-rated lighting can be used on your bathroom ceiling or along a wall outside of your shower.

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

Outdoor lighting repairs typically take between 1-3 hours. The exact duration can vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the problem, the extent of the damage, and the ease of access to the lighting fixtures and wiring.

Options include pathway lights, spotlights, and smart lighting systems. Choose based on function and aesthetics.

Costs depend on system type, issue severity, and labor rates.
