"I discovered a bat flying around in the attic on a Saturday afternoon. I reached out to Birch Hill and they responded immediately by text and email. As it wasn't an emergency, we scheduled a visit that Monday afternoon for Birch Hill to assess the situation. Birch Hill confirmed the bats and determined that they were probably getting in via a gap in the top of the roof. Birch Hill returned the next day and installed a Roof Guard product along the roof line to prevent access to the attic. They also installed a bat extraction tube for the bats to find their way out. They also recommended chimney caps on the top of our fireplace to prevent potential wildlife access. Additionally, they sealed various holes at the base of the siding of the house. Two weeks later, Birch Hill returned, checked out the attic, and removed the bat extraction tube on the roof, and put the finishing touches on sealing up the exit hole. SUCCESS. No, one snake does not always mean more. While snakes do often congregate in dens to breed, for most of the year, they are primarily solitary creatures that do not travel in groups. A single snake may make its way near your home in search of food, warmth, or shelter.

Naturally occurring EPA-registered Bti products are an effective way to kill off mosquitoes at the larval stage. And, although they won’t wipe them out, there are lots of natural repellents that make your yard less attractive to mosquitoes. If the cat is stray (you noticed a collar or other signs of domestication), the kind thing to do is to try and find the owner. Call around to other neighbors to see if they can lead you in the right direction. If you can get close enough to snap a picture, try posting an image of the cat to local community groups and pages on social media.

If the cat is feral, you can try to humanely trap them and participate in a local shelter’s TNR program. Before attempting capture, call around to local rescues and shelters to make sure one near you does participate in a TNR program. They may even be able to catch the cat for you.

Ticks love to hide in long grass, mulch beds, leaf piles, and wooded areas, so minimizing these things in your yard can help stop them from making a home there. If you live in an area with lots of wildlife, it's also helpful to put up a fence so that deer and other animals don't bring ticks into your yard.
