"I had a branch that had fallen from a tree and was suspended from another branch. Because it was a small job I was concerned it might be difficult to get someone to bid on it. After contacting CG Arborist Services by email, I got a call from Chris within 12 hours. He was in the area gave me a quote which I accepted and he was able to fit me in the same day. Chris was professional, did the work as promised, and cleaned everything that came out of the tree as well as the fall leaves that were on the ground near the tree. The service was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend him even if you have a small job to be done."

"John's Tree Service (John and employee Chris) were very accommodating and met customer needs. We hired John to remove a 99 foot pine that could have threatened our home and our neighbor's house. John had a very narrow spot to drop this massive tree. He aced it perfectly. Great work, great job! I certainly reccomend John's Tree Service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Tree removal costs typically don’t include stump removal, as that technically falls into a different service. The company you hire may offer the service for an additional fee; ask them if they offer it to ensure you get the best tree stump removal costs possible.

If a tree stump is removed properly, the chances of a tree growing back are low. However, if a tree has a robust root system, roots can sometimes sprout and someday grow into a tree. The chance of regrowth will depend on several factors such as the type of tree, soil quality, and strength of the root system. In general, it is not recommended to plant a tree where a stump was removed.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

For safety reasons, leaning trees are best removed by a professional, as they may often tear away from the hinge, causing you to lose control over where the tree falls. If you choose to cut down a tree leaning slightly, avoid cutting off root protrusions before you start. Make your hinge a little longer than usual by cutting it deeper (up to 30% of the diameter) and applying a wedge into the felling cut on the side the tree is leaning. Stand away from the direction the tree leans while making your felling cut.

You don’t always need a permit to grind a stump, but you might need one depending on your location and the stump’s surroundings. Permits are often needed if the stump is part of a protected tree species, near public areas or utility lines, or close to environmentally sensitive zones like wetlands. Some cities also regulate noise and work hours. Always check local rules before grinding, and contact your city or county office if you're unsure.
