"They removed the old asphalt, leveled the gravel underneath, added some more gravel, and laid 3â of asphalt in about 6 hours. They left the yard very neat."

"Jason and his crew came in to my homeand did a fantastic job. They spread out tarps and war bootiesany debris was caught and cleaned up. The job came out perfect and there was no mess anywhere. These electricians were totally professional, and the budget came in slightly under the quoted amount. I was thrilled with the job and recommend them highly!!!"

"Starling was polite and kept me well informed and the team was here earlier than expected. However, the team did a subpar job. Fall cleanup usually means; pickup leaves and yard debris and quickly mow the lawn for the winter. All they did was pick up the leaves. Debris from trees and shrubs were just moved to three different piles and left here. Left our yard items (chairs, small table, etc.) in disarray. Needless to say there was no mowing. Yard obviously looks better without a bunch of leaves, but the work was definitely not complete and I had to do half of it anyway. Will not hire again."

Customers say: True professional

"These fellows were hard workers. They left my yard in very good condition, chipping and removing branches, raking and blowing the roof and driveway down. They worked well as a team, were courteous and professional. I would highly recommend them! My neighbors hired them after they saw the nice job they did!"

"4 crews showed up on time, starting the work at 8:00 am, left the property at 2:30 pm. Non-stop working, they cut down unwanted trees and pruned others nicely. They brought a truck with a bucket and chipping equipment, and when they left, all logs and branches were removed and I was really impressed by the professional work. They actually did more than I asked without telling me so, Nick cleaned out gutter nearby, and took care of 2 hornet nests that I could not reach. It was also entertaining to see Michael climbing a tree for pruning, since we could not bring a bucket truck close to the pool. Rich's estimate was reasonable, and he was very careful around the septic system, discussing how they could do the jobs done using which equipment, etc. I will definitely recommend them, and will ask them again to do more work for me for the future."

Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.

These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.

When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
