"We hired Asphalt Engineering to install a driveway this past summer to replace our gravel and deteriorated bituminous concrete driveway with new bit conc. We sought proposals from two contractors. Although their prices were within a few hundred dollars of each other’s, Asphalt Engineering’s proposal was far superior. It was a multi-page document that included photos, sketches, details, dimensions, and a cost estimate. The other contractor submitted a two-paragraph proposal. Asphalt Engineering arrived as scheduled to remove the existing driveway, grade, and install a gravel base sloped for proper drainage. A week later they returned, as scheduled, to install the binder and finish coats. Their work was excellent. The driveway now drains as it should. I highly recommend Asphalt Engineering. If I had another driveway, I’d hire them again. You should too!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In Attleboro, you should address an asphalt paving project immediately if you see safety hazards like potholes deeper than three inches or active water infiltration, especially before a winter freeze. Structural damage also requires urgent attention. Minor cosmetic cracks on a surface with good drainage can often wait until the next paving season. Plan major work for late spring in Attleboro for best results.

Helpful?

In Attleboro, MA, the most critical parts of an asphalt paving project are base preparation and compaction. Shortcuts here lead to failure due to the area's clay-heavy soils and deep frost penetration. Proper grading and drainage are essential to manage the region's precipitation. Additionally, installation must occur when ambient temperatures are above 50°F to ensure a durable surface that withstands local weather cycles.

Helpful?

Professionals in Attleboro prioritize asphalt paving work based on safety and seasonal urgency. High-traffic areas and projects with drainage issues that could affect foundations are addressed first. Work is scheduled within the April-October window to avoid poor weather. Compliance with city permits and coordination with utilities in older Attleboro neighborhoods also dictates the project schedule, ensuring everything is done correctly and efficiently.

Helpful?

For minor asphalt paving issues in Attleboro, you can safely seal cracks smaller than a quarter-inch with rubberized filler when temperatures are above 50°F. Small potholes can be temporarily fixed with a cold-patch mix. Always keep drainage areas clear of leaves and debris. For cracks wider than a half-inch or any issue requiring excavation, it is best to call a professional.

Helpful?

A typical residential asphalt paving project in Attleboro takes one to five days, depending on the scope of preparation. However, timelines in Massachusetts can be extended by several factors. City permit approvals can add two to three weeks, while coordination with local utilities may add another one to two weeks. Unpredictable New England weather can also cause one to three-day delays.
