"Contacted S&S via Angies List to get a quote on some electrical work. Scott and his team were very responsive and helpful. It turns out that I did not use S&S for this work at this time, but I wanted to comment favorably on their customer service. Would consider them for future work and recommend others consider them."

Customers say: Quality work

"I hired Matt when I was in the process of converting from a natural gas wall oven and cooktop to electrical versions. There had to be a lot of rewiring done, and he and his men did a great job. They arrived promptly at the agreed time to do the preliminary work and then arranged to come at the same time as the appliance installers to finish the job. Matt even took the time to fix my doorbell for me when I mentioned that it had not worked for years :-) It was clear that they are incredibly competent and the job went very smoothly. I would definitely hire them again if I need electrical work done in the future. Thanks Matt!!"

"Eric and his team are amazing. I work in customer service, so I know fantastic customer service when I receive it. They are very prompt in returning phone calls/answering messages. I had extensive electrical work that had to be done and they made sure to keep me informed of what was happening and what was going to happen next the entire time. I would hire Eric and his team again in a heartbeat!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Combining electrical work with other upgrades in Acushnet can help streamline your home improvement process. For example, scheduling an electrical panel upgrade alongside a generator installation or surge protection system is common due to local storm risks. Coordinating electrical updates with basement waterproofing or plumbing projects can minimize disruptions and reduce repeat permit inspections, making your overall renovation more efficient and tailored to Acushnet’s coastal climate.

Helpful?

When planning electrical projects in Acushnet, assess whether your home has older wiring, such as knob-and-tube, which often requires full replacement. Proximity to the Acushnet River or Buzzards Bay means moisture protection is critical for outlets and panels. Limited local contractor availability may affect scheduling, so plan ahead. Also, rural areas sometimes experience longer response times for emergency electrical repairs, so consider backup power solutions.

Helpful?

Acushnet’s coastal climate means electrical projects must account for high humidity, salt air, and frequent storms. Installing surge protection and backup generators is especially important before hurricane season. Winter weather can delay exterior electrical work and increase safety risks, so plan major upgrades for late spring through early fall. Always choose moisture-resistant wiring and outdoor-rated fixtures to withstand Acushnet’s changing weather conditions.

Helpful?

After electrical work in Acushnet, promptly arrange for a final inspection to ensure compliance. Keep all permits and inspection records for future reference. Test your generator and surge protection system before hurricane season, and check GFCI outlets regularly. Inspect outdoor electrical components after severe weather. Notify your insurance provider about upgrades, and consider scheduling an energy audit to identify further efficiency improvements for your Acushnet home.

Helpful?

In Acushnet, hidden costs often arise when upgrading older homes to meet current electrical code, especially if outdated panels or knob-and-tube wiring are found. Moisture damage near coastal areas may require additional repairs or specialized materials. Permit fees and coordinating with utility companies can add to the timeline. Weather delays, particularly during winter or storm season, can unexpectedly extend labor and project duration.
