"I met Sal and Matt from Blooms and decided to use them based on their promise of excellent customer service and attention to detail. I really liked both of them and felt optimistic about the job. The biggest part of the job was the demo, removing the dead trees, roots, etc. That went well and moved fast. At that point I was really happy and impressed with Blooms. The concrete work was done by a subcontractor and was basically done well w/ a few minor mixups. Things went south after that. We were creating a new walkway out of 24” square, buff-colored pavers. Sal told us (after demo was done) he couldn’t find them anywhere. He claimed to be able to find only gray 12” pavers. We trusted Sal and grudgingly went with the gray because he told us he would paint them to match what we had in the rest of the yard and that we’d hardly know the difference. After having the gray pavers installed we happened to be at Lowe’s and easily spotted exactly what we were originally looking for! 24” buff-colored, square pavers! I was very disappointed -- that’s all I wanted to begin with. I expected I could trust them to source the materials. I had to check and double check this job. Without my attention to detail I’m certain this crew would have been satisfied doing a sloppy job, get paid and be done. Green metal walkway edging installed crooked. Messy. Not what I was expecting from them. We offered the use of our restroom if they would leave it as it was found. It’s a lady’s bathroom. Not used by anyone but me. Sal’s guys clogged the toilet and left it. They made a mess and when Sal was made aware of it he laughed it off and never apologized. We cleaned up after the workmen in the bathroom. That is disgraceful. When the job was nearing completion, the irrigation system was not back as it was before the demo. Sal claimed we had no pre-existing irrigation pipe in that area of the yard. Sal told us that to install new irrigation in that portion of the yard would be “really expensive” , Sal suggested we just water the plants in that area for a few weeks until they were more established. Our current maintenance man confirmed for us that the Blooms crew broke those lines during demo. He found smashed and broken pipes, totally mishandled by Blooms. We had agreed that Blooms would do our maintenance because we bought 15 trees and 10 flowering plants from them and wanted to make sure everything was well looked after. We thought the people that installed everything might be the best company for the job. After the irrigation mess, we re-thought that. They also pressure washed our patio. They outsourced the job which would’ve been totally fine if it was done well but at $900 it was a terrible job! They told us that even they weren’t happy with the job that their subs did, so they had their crew pressure wash again. They pressure washed around objects in an ridiculous way. We had to ask again for the job to be finished. Third time’s the charm, right? I also bought four mature gardenia plants from them. I explained to Sal that the gardenias I wanted had dark, green, waxy leaves and big white saucer-shaped flowers -- and provided a photo of what I wanted. They gave us the wrong variety. Each plant cost me $130 + labor to install. I texted them about it , Matt replied but Sal “left the conversation.“ Matt said he’d come by and “have a look” but he never did, despite continued requests. I tried for 4 weeks to get him to come. It isn’t fair that I should have to pay for something I expressly said I didn’t want. They never got back to me, never came to see the plants and now I am stuck with more than $500 in plants that I don’t want. Also, the gardenias were affected by a freeze. Matt hoped they’d survive. He said to give it a month to see if they made it, which I agreed to. I had no idea he’d disappear on me. The plants look terrible. Matt hasn’t responded to my messages to correct the problem in over 6 weeks. I would’ve expected them to know more about plants. They claim to be licensed horticulturists. This was a very disappointing experience. I looked forward to doing this work and Blooms didn’t deliver. These guys can sell, They know what to say and how to get the job, just not so much how to get the job done. They like to say, “We are all about customer service” But sadly, the follow through was unprofessional."

The best time to plant a privet hedge is autumn, ideally October or early November. Fall is the best time to plant privet hedges because young plants need plenty of water to jump-start their growth, and it typically rains more during this season. However, you can also successfully plant privets in the spring.

Determining how many boulders you’ll need for your landscaping project depends on the area you need to cover and how big each boulder is. First, you’ll need to determine how big of an area you want covered, then divide that by the base surface area of the boulders. A landscape professional can help you determine how many boulders will be right for your project.

If you’re hiring a landscaper to plant the garden of your dreams, you do not need to provide them with plants that you bought yourself from a nursery. While you certainly can provide your landscaper with plants, keep in mind that some nurseries provide discounts to landscaping companies, therefore potentially lowering your materials cost. Beyond the cost of the plants themselves, you need to have additional materials like topsoil and mulch for the project. Most likely, your landscaper can get a discount on these materials as well, so it’s worth speaking with them before making any large purchases.

Moss attaches to the ground but doesn’t have roots, so it can take four to six weeks for establishment to begin. It takes between 12 and 18 months for full coverage, and maximum thickness takes about two years. Keep your moss moist and debris-free to ensure it establishes itself well.

In addition to aloe vera and lilac, other effective humidity-reducing plants include peace lilies, Boston ferns, English ivy, spider plants, and lucky bamboo. These plants thrive in humid environments and can naturally lower moisture levels. Place them in areas prone to dampness for the best results.
