"George Young does not have a clue what he is doing. We hired him in Mid December to remodel our house and he told us it would not take that long. At the end of March he was not even half way done. When given a dead line, he just quit. He left our house in a total mess. We have paid him most of the money up front and of course he will not give any back so we have to see legal recourse. I have posted negative reviews on his site because of his poor work ethic and his wife takes them down. That would be trying to deceive the public would it not? George would not show up for work for days. Then when he would show up, he would only stay a couple of hours and say he had to leave again. He told us he had several crews, he does not, he and his brother in law are his crew. He let thousands of dollars of supplies ruin because he was to lazy to cover them up and just left them in the rain. We now have to pay a REAL contractor to fix what he did plus finish our job. Please do not use this man. Ask around his home town like we should have done in the first place. He does not have a good reputation and look at the BBB in Shreveport. He has complaints against him already. Plus he is in bankruptcy already, so he thinks he can get away with just taking your money and not finishing your job. DO NOT USE THIS MAN! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet glue is very sticky, but it's not permanent. The glue usually lasts as long as a typical carpet installation, which is five to 15 years. For the best results, you should always use the right type of carpet glue for the area you're using it in. There are carpet glues for high-traffic areas, which are more high-quality and durable than others.

When it comes to linoleum versus laminate, the better choice depends on your personal needs. Linoleum tends to last longer but is more difficult to install. Laminate is less eco-friendly and less durable, but it is easy to install without a professional.

Both options come in a wide variety of styles, but many prefer the look of laminate. Laminate and linoleum are affordable flooring options compared to hardwood or tile, but laminate costs less at about $0.70 to $2 per square foot.

New carpet installation offers warmth, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. It can improve indoor air quality by trapping dust particles and provides a sound-dampening effect, which is beneficial for creating quiet environments.

Squeaking floors don’t usually pose an immediate safety risk. It can be the result of normal settlement, changes in humidity, or natural wear. Uneven or warped floors do pose a trip risk, so you should call a pro for a repair. This is especially true if you notice visible signs of rot or deterioration. Rarely, a creaking floor can signal structural issues, but there are usually other signs.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.
