"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"Jason was professional and polite & throughout the entire project was a great communicator. I was very impressed with his skills and know-how, but most of all the overall look of my new flooring when the job was completed! I would highly recommend this young gentleman to anyone looking for a reliable, skilled and trustworthy craftsman to install flooring! In my biggest Tony the Tiger voice,.. he was GRRRRRRREAT! ??"

"The drop-downs would not allow me to be specific about all the work that Dave Polito did for us. Where do I start? Our job was fairly large and involved and we worked with Dave for a good while in both the communication phase and the actual work phase. (like 8 or 9 months all together I think). Dave is a hard-worker, he is honest, he communicates well, he is proud of his work, detail-oriented (a stickler for quality), sees things through to the bitter end. He leaves almost no stone unturned and makes helpful suggestions along the way. Dave essentially renovated the entire interior of our little farmhouse which had not been loved in probably two generations. He had his work cut out for him. He recognizes the charm of an old home and he is willing to do the hard work to restore the things that are worth restoring (this is priceless in a day where most contractors want to just tear everything out and throw it away). He painted inside of our house, top to bottom, installed new countertops, refinished our hardwood floors, and installed a new slate floor in our kitchen. The list of work was LONG! The job that he did on our hardwood floors was extraordinary. The poor old floors were beaten to hell, peed upon for years (seemingly by a friggin grizzly bear), and covered up for years with multiple layers of low-quality flooring. He brought them back to life with an almost perfect result. Keep in mind they are old and they maintain some battle scars but we actually love that about them and view the scars as a sort of provenance. If I were to critique anything about Dave, it would be that he needs to work on his time-management a bit more. I would be inclined to knock him one star in this aspect BUT, for the following reasons I simply cannot: He basically did this job all himself - this was a HUGE undertaking and required lots of hard, hard work. His attention to detail is impeccable. His work product is truly fantastic. He communicated with me all the way through, so there were not many surprises. We each had patience with each other and together, we made it through to the end of the project. Did I say that it came out amazing and stunning? We are quite happy. I would not hesitate to hire David Polito. Have a consultation and work out your plan with him. You will be in good, capable, craftsman-Esque hands!"

"The man who came, cleaned out the back of the refrigerator. He was even kind enough to let me clean the floor when he moved the refrigerator out. When he got done, my refrigerator purred. He was wonderful. I also liked the fact that I sent in my request online on a Sunday and my refrigerator was fixed before noon on Monday. My first call with this company and I am very very pleased."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.

Yes, carpet tiles are easy to install—even if you don’t have much DIY experience. In fact, the simple installation process is one of the main reasons that people choose carpet tiles over traditional carpet. Since carpet tiles come in individual squares, they aren’t as heavy or awkward to install as regular carpet. Plus, you don’t need specialized equipment (like knee kickers or carpet stretchers) when installing carpet tiles.

A 65-oz. carpet is good, and in many cases, it indicates a premium carpet. Most carpets for homes should fall in the range of 40 to 60 ounces for face weight. If a carpet has a 65-oz. face weight, it is likely more durable and long-lasting than a similar carpet with a lower face weight. Carpet face weight is just one factor in determining a carpet’s quality.

Now that you know the true pleasure of a squeaky-clean floor, you’re probably wondering how to keep floors clean between mop days. Here are the best tips to keep your floor looking spotless:

  • Give floors a quick daily swipe with a microfiber mop.

  • Keep a spray bottle of your cleaning solution on hand to use as needed.

  • Sweep daily and vacuum once or twice a week.

  • Clean up spills and messes as soon as they happen.

  • Place a doormat at each entrance to your home to reduce mud tracking.

  • Consider enforcing a “no shoes inside” policy.

  • Wash your pet’s paws before letting them back inside.

To prep a floor for painting, start by sweeping and cleaning any loose debris that could puncture the protective material. Take out as much furniture as possible. Then lay plastic, canvas, rosin paper, or masonite sheets across the room, securing them at the edges with masking tape. Plan your painting so that you minimize the chances you’ll step in and track any splatters.
