"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"That was all it took! He gave me instructions on filing a claim with our insurance company, met with the adjuster on the roof and it was then established that we indeed had quite a leak around the chimney and that the roof needed to be replaced. I had some contact with the adjuster but the Songy folks did all the work with the insurance company and we were approved for a new roof even with an upgrade to architectural shingles.
Can I tell you how happy I was? The workers came out soon after our deposit was made and put a beautiful roof down as well as spending hours on replacing the chimney flashing.
The house looks great, we have no leaks anywhere and we had only negligible extra expenses for replacing rotten wood under the roof itself.
I am a really satisfied customer and look forward to getting other needed projects done!

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is best and safest for venting a hood range. It’s best to avoid flexible and corrugated types of ducting, as these options don’t provide ample airflow and may not meet local code. For specific advice on which type of duct might be best for your kitchen, reach out to a range hood installation professional.

Yes, they can assess the size, kitchen layout, and ventilation requirements to make recommendations.

Neglected maintenance can lead to odors, fire hazards, impaired airflow, and reduced range and hood operation efficiency.

Yes, professionals can often retrofit models with minimal disruption.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.
