"I left a $9,000 deposit with Comfort Engineered Systems over 11 months ago to have a home generator installed. 6 months passed without any follow up by the company. I then placed 15 calls/messages to the company’s voicemail and answering service without ever receiving a single return call. I was finally left with no choice but to physically show up at the company’s office and demand to speak to the owner (Edward Perez). He claimed he never received any of my call and “just by coincidence” I was “next on the list” to have a generator installed. Five more months went by without any contact from the company. I placed another dozen calls to them, none of which were returned. Again, left with no other option I again had to physically show up at the company’s office to get a response as to why I was being completely ignored after having left a $9,000 deposit. When I got to the company’s office it was completely empty although the company’s name was still on the door. Fortunately there was another tenant in the building who informed me that Comfort Engineered had vacated the premises several months earlier and he thought they may have moved to Harrahan. The company’s website still listed the previous address so I had to do some detective work to find the location of their office in Harrahan. I again physically showed up at the company and requested a return of my deposit since over 11 months had passed, I had never received a single communication from the company and they were continuing to ignore my telephone messages. I would like to hand my full deposit returned so that I can move on with my project with someone else. Mr. Perez told me that “we do not return any deposits after 3 days” and again, by coincidence, I was “next on the list”. I told him that if I did not receive a refund of my deposit I was going to pursue legal action and walked out. Mr. Perez ran after me in the parking lot saying he could install my generator next week. Mr. Perez is the most dishonest businessman I have met in 30 years of doing construction/renovation work. Stay away from this guy like the plague."

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts
How often you change the filters in your return air vents typically depends on factors such as your indoor air quality, the type of filter used, and the specific needs of your HVAC system. Generally, checking your filters every 1-3 months is recommended. However, if you have pets or allergies or live in an area with high dust levels, more frequent replacements may be necessary. Regular filter changes ensure that your HVAC system operates efficiently, maintains good indoor air quality, and extends its lifespan.
Air duct cleaning costs an average of $270 to $500 , depending on the number of vents and the total length of the ducts in your home. The type of ducts you have also plays a role since flexible ducts are more susceptible to damage and more difficult and time-consuming to clean properly. Expect higher labor costs for difficult-to-access ducts.
You should not put boric acid into your home’s air vents. While sprinkling boric acid in roach-prone areas is an effective way to get rid of them, it’s not safe to introduce those chemicals into your home’s air system. Instead, put boric acid or diatomaceous earth in a spot that roaches may walk through, infesting them and the rest of the infestation.
There are a few things you can do to help maintain healthy indoor air quality during construction. First, section off the area of your home where the work is taking place by hanging plastic sheets over doors to contain dust. Second, cover the vents in the construction zone using plastic sheets to prevent dust from entering into your ducts and circulating throughout your home. Finally, consider installing an air purifier that can scrub any stray particles out before you breathe them in.
Musty smells often indicate the presence of mold, which can lead to various health risks. Inhalation of mold spores may trigger allergic reactions, causing sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. People who suffer from mold allergies or asthma may experience more severe respiratory problems. Certain types of mold, like black mold, can lead to mycotoxicosis, a condition associated with serious health effects like respiratory problems, fatigue, headaches, and skin irritation if exposure continues for an extended period. Those with weakened immune systems, respiratory problems, or allergies may be more vulnerable to the health risks that come with musty smells. Therefore, it is crucial to address and eliminate the source of the odor promptly.
