Lemi-Duit is a team of experienced and highly skilled tradesmen and artisans. Each member of the team contributes a unique expertise to the whole. While we are still small enough to be personal and give individual attention to our clients, we offer the advantages of a larger company as a result of the diversity of our team. We feel that our old fashioned American dream of the small town contractor doing business with friends and neighbors sets us apart from the crowd. All of our work is overseen by our owner, Sam Gill, and is fully guaranteed to be to your satisfaction. We solicit your ideas, and strive to create a job plan that will deliver a finished product that will exceed your expectations, while staying within your established budget. Our mission is to develop ongoing relationships with our customers, and offer full spectrum maintenance services at an affordable, fair price, by working closely with homeowners to solve maintenance problems, and fulfill remodeling and renovation dreams in a climate of trust and confidence. We also try to convince our clients to go green whenever possible, as we want to eventually become a totally green company. Trust and quality are the most important factors in choosing a contractor. Once you’ve collected several bids, it’s time to start comparing them. When making your final decision, you’ll want to choose a contractor that not only provides the best bid in terms of money, but also one that you feel is right for the job. There are advantages to choosing the up and coming contractor who is building a reputation, gaining clients, and seeking referrals for potential clients. A newer contractor is often more conscientious and works harder in order to establish his reputation and develop a good client base. As contractors, we work hard to ensure that our bids are competitive, while at the same time being realistic when it comes to high quality materials and costs. There is a fine balance between a good bid and a bid that looks good on the surface, but does not cover the occasional unexpected expense that comes up during the job - and we take pride in achieving this balance. Dependability is key to the success of any construction project, and our reputation is based upon dependable service, attention to detail, and the responsibility of a reasonable and practical timeline. Our owner is always available to discuss any concerns you may have and resolve any issues that may arise. Lemi-Duit combines traditional values with modern methods to create an environment in which goals are accomplished in a timely and professional manner. Our motto is “From rooftop to ground and all around,” and no job is too small or large for our consideration. Depending upon the complexity of your needs, a written estimate can usually be delivered to you within 24-48 hours of our initial meeting. A follow up meeting to discuss the estimate and include anything that may have been overlooked at the first meeting can be scheduled at your convenience. We are licensed and fully insured for your protection.

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Rubbing alcohol may also remove ice from your driveway in a pinch. It has a lower freezing point than water, which expedites the unfreezing process. Pour 70 percent isopropyl alcohol into a quart or half-gallon spray bottle and spray it on your driveway. You do not have to dilute it with water.

You may be wondering if you really need the snow removed from your roof. Since most roofs can only handle 20 pounds per square foot of snow accumulation, there is a tipping point when you are suddenly at risk of roof collapse. This can cause a lot of damage, not just to your home, but to your belongings, too. It also poses a physical danger to your family. Also, a lot of snow on a roof makes it more susceptible to ice dams, leaks, and water damage.

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

While it’s less common than on other kinds of roofs, yes, ice dams can form on metal roofs. Metal roofs, particularly those with snow guards installed, can still accumulate ice at the roof edge, although ice dams on metal roofs are less likely to cause roof or interior damage than on traditional asphalt shingle roofs.

There are several ways to remove snow from your roof: using a snow rake, salting the roof with calcium chloride, using a rope (cautiously), and using heating cables. It’s important to mention that pretty, fluffy, sparkling snow weighs a great deal, and when physically removing snow from a roof, you should be aware of large snow slabs breaking off. These can weigh hundreds of pounds and are a real danger, so be extremely careful anytime you’re doing this type of work.
