"The Pine tree had greater damage than was visible from the ground, including rot at the top. Removal was suggested, which we accepted since this tree was close to our house. The tree was removed in pieces, with no damage to the surrounding area. The stump was ground down. Trimming of selected branches & limbs on the other 4 trees resulted in a beautiful, open appearance with good visibility to the upper reaches of the trees. We are very pleased with the appearance. All debris was removed."

"The project went smooth. A lot of hard work in the summer heat, on hands and knees planting a lot of mondo grass. That part took forever and required patience. Old pea gravel was removed and replaced with a stone walkway and numerous other plants were installed, as well as top soil and mulch put down. I wasn’t at hope the first couple of days when the project finished, so Ray came by to water everything. After payment was rendered, he came back to make some small adjustments to account for water drainage after the 8 inches of rain fell in one day. Would definitely use again, as Ray takes pride in his work and wants to make sure the customer is happy."

Donald acquired his knowledge of the tree business by working for Robert’s Forestry and Landscape in Williamsburg, VA. This company was responsible for all of the trees in Colonial Williamsburg and for large commercial companies in the area.

The speed of your tree root removal process depends on a few different factors, including the size and type of tree. However, the fastest method of killing tree roots is applying chemical herbicide, which starts working quickly and efficiently. But this removal method has its drawbacks, such as having a negative effect on the surrounding vegetation and landscaping. Other options like rock salt and stump grinding work relatively quickly and cause less damage to your yard.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size. 

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

DIY pruning is possible for small shrubs with basic tools, but safety concerns recommend professionals for larger or more hazardous removals.

Although many tree roots will continue to grow after the tree has been cut, there are a handful of exceptions to this rule. While species like elms, ficus, and willows have roots that will regrow with a vengeance, pine, oak, and maple roots will die when they’re cut down. New sprouts on old trunks, stumps, or exposed roots are a sign that the root system is still hard at work.
