"Very satisfied with the whole process. They trimmed down one tree and then we had them come back and chop one down. The whole crew was very professional. Seeing 3 generations working together is very inspiring. Thanks again"

"Lightning struck our large pecan tree in the back yard.    We called Oasis Tree Care and they were very responsive.  Thomas came out the following day, assessed the situation, gave us a fair price and scheduled the work for early the next week.  He realized that our tree was badly damaged and could pose a hazard, so he re-arranged his schedule to give us priority.  In the meantime, we decided that another of our large trees really needed to be removed, as well, so we called him back and he gave us a fair price for removal of the second tree, as well.
He came out when he said he would, emailed us pictures of the progress while we were at work, called several times to communicate what was going on, and followed up with us that evening to make sure the work was satisfactory.
The work included tree removal, grinding the stump, hauling away all debris, and cleaning up the area.  We were very pleased with the work.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Consumers typically do not need to worry about the cost of tree insurance, as professional tree service companies pay for their own coverage. For a tree service business, an average U.S. policy covering about $1 million in general liability costs roughly $40 a month or $500 a year. More extensive policies, providing between $500,000 to $2 million in coverage, can cost between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, depending on the company's size and scope of work. Tree service professionals should speak with an insurance company to determine the right plan for their business.

You can use a chainsaw, but it won’t remove the entire stump or root ball and is not a recommended method. It takes quite a bit of physical work to achieve and will likely dull or ruin your chainsaw. Instead, consider using salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, stump grinding, or burning to kill a tree stump. These methods allow you to kill a stump using minimal machinery and physical exertion.

A pro can guide you on the alternatives to tree topping depending on the specific issues within your trees. For example, if you’re dealing with breakage and cracks in your tree, they may suggest canopy reduction, which removes less than 25% of the tree’s limbs. If you’re dealing with lesser damage, some intentional pruning may be all you need. If you’re looking to get a clearer view through your tree, the pro may also try windowing or skirting your tree.

You’ll want to have your palm trees trimmed during the spring, ideally in May, before hurricane season sets in, which generally takes place during the late summer. Palm trees grow fastest over the summer months. You’ll also want to trim your palm trees when you notice:

  • Brown fronds

  • Dry leaves

  • Flower pods

  • Fruit

  • Fronds overgrown in power lines

  • Frond encroaching upon your neighbor’s home or yard

  • Visible damage from a storm
