Stretching a carpet should be a one-time job. If by re-stretching you mean doing it a second (or third) time, it’s probably better to replace it altogether. Most carpets are expected to last anywhere from five to 15 years, so if it’s past that timeframe, you may want to shop around for a new one.

In a wet room, you need a floor that won’t sustain damage with constant exposure to water, but your options are normally the same as with a bathroom. Ceramic and porcelain tile are suitable options, as are natural stone like granite and marble, much like in a standard bathroom. Since a wet room’s floor is more likely to be wet, you should choose a flooring option with some texture to reduce how slippery the material gets.

Steam mopping might be better than regular mopping if you don’t use the right cleaning products or properly rinse or wring out the mop head. However, if you use the right techniques, regular mopping also sanitizes effectively—even if it takes more effort. For this reason, avoid placing any furniture in the room for 72 hours after installation.

Shower pans come with a threshold and sidewalls to contain the water, but tile can be set into the shower base.
