"Brunson Electric were very professional and told me exactly what they were going to replace under my house. They had already inspected and reported rodent chewing on my electric wiring (one place down to the core). Now I am continuing the rat bait I have put out and getting someone to close any entries to the bottom of my house to keep the squirrels out. I have skirting around a log home and love my home and don't want a fire to start. The Brunson Co. did what was to be expected from electricians that know what they are doing."

Small jobs welcome

"Toney was very polite and took the time to explain the problem made by the previous electrician. He worked quickly to fix the problem at a very reasonable price. He was very empathetic. I wish I had hired him the first time. He made sure the job was done right and it has been so nice having full electrical power. Iâ m very grateful. I highly recommend his services."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you must use the proper wire nut that fits your wire gauge. Using a wire nut that’s too big or too small can cause your connection to fail, short circuit, or disconnect entirely. Ensuring that you have the proper wire nut size will guarantee that your connection lasts as long as possible.

For many homeowners, sheds are more than storage spaces for tools or lawn care appliances. If you’re thinking about building a work space outdoors or could make your life simpler by running electricity to a spot that’s closer to your yard, it could absolutely be worth the cost.

Common warning signs of an overloaded electrical panel or meter box include frequent circuit breaker tripping, flickering or dimming lights, scorch or burn marks, and a burning scent coming from the panel. A circuit breaker trips as a protective measure to prevent overheating and potential fires. If you observe any of these signs, turn off the affected circuit breaker and move some devices to a different circuit. If the problem persists after turning the breaker back on, you should contact a professional electrician to resolve the issue.

It’s not a good idea to mix LED and incandescent Christmas lights if you can avoid it. LEDs and incandescents can have significantly different electrical current needs. This difference can lead to a higher risk of problems and failure for both light strands. When possible, switch all your lights over to one kind or the other for the best results. Do not connect the different types of light strings to each other, and avoid linking them to the same circuit.

Electrical fixes are best handled by a licensed electrician, but it’s possible to release a wire connection on your own. Be sure to always turn off the power to the outlet at the circuit breaker before beginning your project to avoid electric shock. Carefully insert the tip of a flat screwdriver into the rectangular hole beneath the wire. Hold the outlet in the palm of your other hand. Pull out the wire as you apply pressure with the screwdriver.
