Honest Quality work. Custom work to fit the customers needs. 35 years experience. My family owned an upholstery and refinish shop from 1960 to 2010. I operated it for 20 years during my off time while working offshore. I have always done my own home repairs, from installations and repair of appliances, woodwork, window and door installations, drywall repair, texturing and painting, wood refinishing and repair, facia and soffits, porches , decks, fences, concrete, flooring, tile replacement and repairs, faucets, garbage disposals, built-in microwave and small appliance installation, furniture assembly, glue work and repairs, small engine, tractor, and mower repairs. I worked offshore for over 20 years as a mechanic and supervisor, where we worked on everything from engines and hydraulics to sewer and plumbing. Veteran, served in the US Marine corps 4 years and was honorably discharged.

"Larry did a great job of installing all new windows in our sunroom. Removed and replaced all six windows and took care of everything. We are pleased and will definitely call him for more work in the future. Highly recommended!! ."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

You can use hot water to melt ice from your driveway, but there are some serious caveats. Very hot water can quickly melt ice and remove it, which is helpful if you’re very short on time and need a solution ASAP. However, it will only work across a small area, after which there’s a chance the water will freeze again. The sudden clash of temperatures is dangerous for fragile materials, notably windows and other glass, so you’ll want to keep the water away from your car.

You may be wondering if you really need the snow removed from your roof. Since most roofs can only handle 20 pounds per square foot of snow accumulation, there is a tipping point when you are suddenly at risk of roof collapse. This can cause a lot of damage, not just to your home, but to your belongings, too. It also poses a physical danger to your family. Also, a lot of snow on a roof makes it more susceptible to ice dams, leaks, and water damage.

Both rock salt and ice melt are naturally occurring salts. Rock salt is sodium chloride, which is the same as table salt. Ice melt products can be made from a combination of salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or can be those salts alone.

Rock salt comes in large crystals, so it helps provide traction on icy surfaces, whereas ice melt products need to be mixed with sand to provide traction. Ice melt products work at lower temperatures than rock salt, so they might be a better choice if you have a harsh winter climate.

The best way to remove snow from driveways is to use a two- or three-stage snow blower, which has the power to clear snow in a matter of minutes. Don’t forget to consider helpful options, such as a snow thrower, wheelbarrow plow, leaf blower, and hiring a professional snow removal company to clear off your driveway.

In most cases, it’s a good idea to leave the icicles on your roof and wait for the warmer weather to melt them away naturally. You should only remove icicles if you believe they’re heavy enough to cause damage to your home or anyone who enters it.
