"Brandon Oubre Mr Electric- worked on my home doorbell system Wednesday July 15, 2026. After checking the system, and searching the attic for the doorbell transformer, he found it had been covered by attic insulation. This caused it to overheat resulting in unreliable operation and was a possible fire hazard. Brandon replaced the old transformer with a more powerful unit to handle 3 chimes. He rewired and installed the new transformer in a more accessible location above attic insulation. As always, Brandon performed the work with precision and expertise. Another great job! Anita Swan"

"I hired Austin to add several outdoor electrical outlets to my home that were needed. He was on time, professional, and also very affordable compared to other electricians in the area. He also informed me that he is a local fireman and loves to serve his community. Thank you for your service and work Austin! Definitely recommend him to everyone."

"Guys were very professional and courteous! They completed the job quickly, did a great job, and cleaned up all of their mess before leaving! Would absolutely hire them for any of our additional electrical needs!!!"
The before, almost pitch black due to old burnt ballasts and bulbs.
The after, new LED UFO fixtures. No more ballasts or bulbs to burn out, just LED's rated for 50,000 working hours!

"How good is Ed Chachere?  It's hard to put in words the detail and meticulous nature of Ed and Elijah.  Their work is as close to perfection as possible in a restoration of a home where lumber was cut to a different specification than you find today.  They have repaired walls, floors, renovated bathrooms, resolved problems with old construction, and are in the final process of bringing the home back to it's original glory.  Ed is proficient at working with other contractors and has been invaluable in his ability to coordinate efforts.  Needless to say, not only has Ed done a fabulous job on the home's interior, but he has also saved our sanity during the process.  Interior of the home is near completion and we are starting on outside."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Charging your EV every night isn’t always necessary. Most EVs have sufficient range to cover daily commutes without needing a nightly charge, particularly if you have a Level 2 charger. Charging once every few days or as needed can prolong the battery’s lifespan.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.
