"Jerry and his son Braxton were as delight. I needed two ceiling fans replaced and they did an incredible job! They were punctual, knowledgeable, had a wealth of experience and were able to complete the task quickly. They also were incredibly kind and were so good with my three dogs in the house while they were working (which is always a challenge when getting home stuff done)! After having received absurdly high quotes from other more corporate/larger electrical firms, their costs were super reasonable and exactly in line with what I expected for fan replacement. I’ve already shared their info with others and would definitely recommend them strongly! Very much appreciated!"

"Bernard called me right away - after hours - when my project posted. He was able to come out the very next day, quickly diagnose and fix the problem. He is courteous and made sure i understood everything that he assessed and did to fix the issue. I will definitely have him very high on my list of persons to call if I need an electrician again in the future. Too many companies won't take small jobs or try to work a small job into their schedule if they are busy. Mr. Blanchard was very busy this week and still took the time to fit me in. I cannot tell you how much that is appreciated. He is why I try to patronize the smaller company, the self-employed, those who value customer service. You can easily get lost with the bigger firms with many units on call - and you never know how good the team that comes to you really is until it is already too late."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.

Though possible, installing a ceiling fan yourself requires electrical knowledge and confidence working with home wiring. Following the manufacturer's instructions carefully and observing safety precautions are crucial components of a DIY installation.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.
