"Mike came out, he was professional, proficient, and very kind. He was able to get me in the same day and very punctual. The price was very reasonable. I will definitely use them again if I have any plumbing issues in the future and will recommend them to anyone else who needs the same services."

"Very professional service. Price was as quoted and less than local competitors. Showed up a little late but contacted us to let us know he was running behind first. Took about an hour to complete the work. Would definitely use them again."

"Tony was great. Another contractor had installed the shower, and after a month, the cold water pressure suddenly dropped to a trickle. It's a Gabrylly shower, and seems well-made, but very few people have seen them before. Tony suspected that some debris had gotten into the cartridge. He suggested that I get in touch with the manufacturer, and call him back when I got a replacement cartridge. Gabrylly responded right away with the replacement, and it seemed easy enough (after watching Tony), so I replaced it myself, but it made no difference. Tony came back, and after further investigation, determined that the installer had not opened the cold water valve all the way. He refused to charge me for the second visit, even though it was in no way his fault that he didn't check the valves the first time. The cartridge seemed more consistent with a change in pressure, and the contractor had caulked the face plate to the tile, so it was not an easy matter to check the valves. My only regret is that I didn't hire him for the remodel in the first place."

"Saia's Plumbing came immediately once I called them for a clogged line that we had in our company building. They were professional, on time, and was able to resolve the issue in a timely manner. I highly recommend Saia's Plumbing to anyone that is in need of a plumber in the local New Orleans area."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

Continuous feed garbage disposals are the favorite model for many homeowners for a reason. As opposed to batch feed models, add food scraps to the drain whenever the disposal is running. This variety is also typically less expensive, more convenient, and easier to clean.

You may be able to install a garbage disposal on your own, especially if you're handy or have some experience with plumbing. However, if you have any concerns or want to make absolutely sure that the connections are installed correctly, you may be better off hiring a local garbage disposal installer to do the job.

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.
