"It all works, Must have gone well. I have yet to go into the hot attic to check out the work,. I have no doubt they did a good job as I am a repeat customer---they installed the downstairs system three years ago. They both work well and my electricity bill has gone down!!"

"I needed a lock and cover for my exterior water faucets to protect against water theft and vandalism. It was urgent, but Charles didn’t know this. He responded right away and ordered 3 locks /covers. As soon as it came in, he headed to my home within hours. The job was done on time, clean, very professionally and within budget. Because I’m out of town he sent pictures of the work that was done. I later disclosed to him about a contractor stealing my water. We talked about security measures and he recommended to me security cameras that I could use for that purpose that would work within my budget and that he would install for me. Mr. Stevens did excellent work. I would use him again."

"It went well!  They also recharged my Freon.  This was on a Friday on a 3-day weekend, so I was sure I would be out of luck.  However, they were willing to come out and did a great job!"

"The men that came were very respectful and did an awesome job of cleaning the ducts, registers and dryer vent. They cleaned up behind themselves and left the house in order. I would definitely hire them again for this and other services."

"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

"I called Parrain's when my heat went out during one of our colder times a month or so ago. First, I talked with human beings, not machines. Second, they came as soon as possible. Third, they tried everything before replacing my heating unit. Fourth, they checked everything! They fixed everything. They even returned and replaced a section of my wheelchair ramp which had rotted!!!!! Not on the bill, an act of kindness. Fifth, the cost of all this was very reasonable. This team is amazing. I recommend them without reservation."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Radiators are a popular home heating choice in older homes, but they are becoming less common in new-construction homes. According to a 2022 report by Elements Visual Capitalist, only around 1.3% of new single-family homes have radiators and similar heating systems, such as baseboard heating.

While they may not be as popular as they once were, radiators today come with more energy-efficient features that can make them practical for modern homeowners.

Probably not. Moving a boiler to a new location is a very different prospect from replacing it in the same spot, and significantly more expensive. Plus, boilers are typically carefully positioned in proximity to pipes and radiators when installed. Homeowners may want to move boilers to free up space, prevent freezing problems that have happened in winter, or solve a noise issue—but it’s a much more costly proposition.

Always consult your manual for specific pressure numbers. Many expansion tanks come pre-pressurized at a specific PSI range, anywhere from 12 to 40 PSI, designed for a range of home boilers. You should not have to pressurize an expansion tank yourself, only the boiler system. If your system has a tank that needs to be manually pressurized, this is generally a job for professionals and their tools.

The primary differences between a heat pump and a boiler are their function and how they produce heat. A heat pump is a versatile system that provides both heating and cooling by moving ambient air and altering its temperature. In contrast, a boiler is solely a heating system, often working with a furnace or AC unit as part of a larger HVAC system. In terms of heat production, a heat pump generates heat more slowly and at a lower temperature, requiring a large convector for distribution. A boiler, however, produces a large amount of high-temperature heat that it emits through smaller radiators.

Steam boilers require flushing at least every six to 12 months to keep them operating effectively for as long as possible. Depending on your water quality and frequency of use, you might need to do this more frequently. The flushing process helps to remove problematic buildup of sediments. While a boiler contractor near you can perform a thorough annual flush, learning how to drain the system yourself means you can do this monthly if you experience speedy mineral accumulation because of hard water.
