"I’ve had Stefaniak Construction replace my decking and railings, install exterior french doors as well as windows, and several smaller tasks and am extremely pleased with how they all turned out. Will be hiring them for more projects in the future."

"Potter House was very responsive, calling back and providing an upfront no-BS time estimate for when work could actually begin (if we had decided to use them). Due to the busy nature of their schedule, they weren't expecting to be able to begin work for at least three weeks but, knowing the nature of our problem, were willing to come by and provide an estimate. When the gentleman I was dealing with came over to look at our problem he was, once again, upfront about how long it would be before Potter House would be able to begin work. He was also quite knowledgeable and honest about the different aspects of work and sub-contracting that would be required to get done what we needed. All-in-all, I was very appreciative of not being strung along nor having to do my own follow-up. Though we didn't end up using them (since we needed to get the work started before they were available), I would not hesitate to call them up again for future work.

Marble is a porous natural stone that needs sealant to minimize staining. Leaving this type of countertop material sealant-free means any liquids left on the surface will quickly absorb into the stone, discoloring it and dulling the sheen. Dark or acidic liquids, like red wine, coffee, and lemon, are the worst culprits. 

Avoid using harsh, gritty, or abrasive cleaners and sponges on Formica countertops. This includes steel wool, scouring pads, and strongly alkaline or acidic cleaning products like chlorine bleach, oven cleaner, drain cleaner, furniture polish, or vinegar. While epoxy resin is generally durable, it is not scratch-proof. Some sources state it is highly resistant to scratches from minor sources, while others note it can scratch and chip easily from sharper or heavier items. To prevent damage, always use a cutting board and avoid sliding heavy or rough-bottomed objects across the surface. If a scratch does occur, be aware that epoxy can be difficult to repair by sanding, often requiring an orbital sander for effective results.

If you need to make curved cuts on your laminate countertop, get out the jigsaw. A jigsaw with a fine blade will allow you to follow curved traced lines. It is important to cut slowly and to let the jigsaw do most of the work with you acting as a guide. 

While no countertop material is truly “heatproof,” granite countertops are extremely resistant to high temperatures. Some types of granite can withstand temperatures up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit.
