Customers say: Quick response

"Mr. Moreland and his team were on time, stayed late and met all our needs. As the project developed, he was able to incorporate my changing wants and needs. I appreciated his honesty and ideas. I am planning on doing a master bath remodel and opening up the first floor for a little more of an open floor plan shortly as soon as our money allows, thank you all."

"Jonathan Will, the owner, was an excellent salesman who provided us with detailed information on a variety of carpets.  He came to our home twice to bring us sample carpets.  Since we were able to save $400 by relocating our furniture and removing the carpets ourselves, it took us longer than we had originally planned (in fact, it was a month longer than expected). Jonathan was patient with our delay and finally was able to install the carpets on 12/22/14.  His installer, Steve Johnson, came with a three person crew and installed the carpet in about 90 minutes.  We were very pleased with the entire process.

"We needed vinyl floor laid Mr. Velazquez and his crew were at the job sight on time and very professional. They finished the job in about half the time I expected. The job was excellent. They cleaned up before they left and left the room in fine shape. I would most definitely recommend them for flooring needs."

"He came out and looked at the problem of carpet that had stretched. He provided an estimate and returned within 10 minutes of the scheduled time. They came with all of the tools needed, moved heavy furniture, pulled up carpet and fixed the underlayment replacing the carpet and making it look like new. We had a spot which he also removed with great care and insight at no extra charge. It was a great job!

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

It’s not a good idea to lay tile and grout on the same day. The adhesive or thin-set that sticks the tiles to the surface needs plenty of time to dry before you can grout. Wait for 24 to 48 hours, depending on moisture levels in the space. The tiles can become misaligned and more prone to damage if you don’t wait.

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.

The cost to install porcelain tile is about $1,930 on average. Porcelain tile prices range from $880 to $3,000 or more. The average cost tends to be higher than ceramic tile because porcelain tile is very durable. Porcelain tile rating also factors into the material cost. Tile ratings are as follows:

  • Grade 0: Walls only

  • Grade 1: Walls and light traffic floors

  • Grade 2: Rooms with light traffic, but not kitchens or hallways

  • Grade 3: Kitchens, hallways, and entryways

  • Grade 4: Any area, interior or exterior

  • Grade 5: Highest durability good for any area, interior or exterior

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.
