"Installation of insulation was great. Crew was knowledgeable, clean, courteous. Took photos to show all work completed in my attic. Did extra steps, i.e., fixed screen that was hanging on my Eave Vents, secured bathroom ceiling fan exhaust duct work. Extremely happy with the job!"

"We have a garage that runs underneath the house. The three rooms that were over the garage were colder than the rest of the house. In October we had Retrofoam inject foam insulation in the ceiling of the garage , hoping that would help warm those rooms. Now that we have had cold weather, I really notice how much warmer those rooms are. They did a good job, and there was no mess to clean up."

"My wife and I attended a presentation by James Manfield, the owner of GreenForce.  We were impressed with company product and Jame's punctuality, professionalism and honesty.  We decided to hire his company to add insulation to attic of my in-laws house.  The installers came on time and over 9 hours managed to complete 95% of the job.  The installers were polite, professional and clean.  The subsequent installers came next day and completed the job.  We are very pleased with James and the service provided by his company. As FYI, we had similar radiant barrier installed by another company in our own house in 2012 and we were pleased with the reduction in heating and cooling cost."

"It went very well and since the repairs were made we have had several hard rains and the roof is drawing properly again. From Chase's proposal to Kevin's installation the job went just as described in the proposal at approximately 2/3 of the bids I got from other companies. I was a little scepital because I had learned the hard way that flat rubber roofs required special knowledge expertise and training to install properly. Kevin's installation of my new roof followed the book exactly as I had reviewed the process online and it is working perfectly again like it should. Thanks to Kevin and Chase for taking care of this roof problem for me."

"We contacted Dan Grimes and several other roofing companies. Dan's bid was in the middle but competitive. What we liked about him was that he is communicative and has integrity so we felt good about having him work on our home. Dan himself got up on the roof and found that there was weather damage. He had us contact our insurance and dealt directly with the insurance inspector. He walked through the whole process with us. We are very happy with the roof that Dan and his team installed. His workers were punctual and very courteous, as well as very conscientious. His company installed Owens Corning roofing system and we feel very confident about it after he walked us through each step of the material and quality. Dan treated us as if we were friends or family which made the whole process go very smoothly. We are very happy with the work his company did. We would highly recommend Integrity 1st Roofing."

"We were very pleased with the work that Parsons did for us. Bill Parsons came and told us about their services. He explained the product they would be using for the insulation. Both Bill and the installers were courteous and friendly. The installation went smoothly. I would recommend Parsons to my friends for work they need done. I would also seriously consider them for future projects."

"It was a small job. They sealed the vents to the crawlspace, then, since there was already solid insulation panels on the walls, put a vapor/moisture barrier, in the form of a tarp, 4 feet wide and as long needed, completely around the crawlspace. It was then sealed to the walls with "nails" and adhesive. This seals the wood frame of the house from the 'Outside", the ground, which is the floor of the crawlspace. A 20 mil thick, quite heavy, "floor" was installed, also in the form of a tarp, It went up the walls about 3 feet and was taped to the 'tarp" on the walls, using a tape made for this application. The piers were wrapped with the same stuff and taped to seal the inside from the outside. the "floor" is also a vapor/moisture barrier, but, heavy enough to walk on if needed. This basically makes the crawlspace another room, rather than the outside. Our house is one year old and was already getting mold on the floor joists. Since the air in the crawlspace will now be heated in the winter and cooled in the summer, just like the rest of the house, the mold and cold (52 degrees) floors we experienced last winter will hopefully be eliminated. We shall see when dumb winter gets here."

"Great! His workers are friendly and hard working. They were short staffed that week, so the job took longer, but it didn't effect the price much. I was concerned that working 10 hours in the heat, no one is at peak efficiency or performance, and I think that made the price (based on hours worked) a little higher that it would have been if all the scheduled staff was there. We will use him again, and at other properties as well."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

To cover your HVAC ducts and air vents during construction, use plastic sheets or drop cloths secured with painter's tape. Be sure to cover all supply vents on your floors and walls, as well as the larger HVAC return vent, which is typically on the ceiling. While canvas drop cloths can also be used, they may not catch all the fine dust. It is crucial to shut off your HVAC system or at least the zone where construction is happening. Running the system with vents sealed can put significant strain on the blower motor and air handler. For additional dust containment, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area from the rest of your home.

Generally, the cost of ice dam removal is not covered by homeowners insurance because it is often considered preventable maintenance. However, the damage caused by ice dams is frequently covered. Depending on your policy, this can include interior water damage, roof collapses, and damage to shingles. Coverage for personal belongings affected by leaks may vary. It is important to check your policy details or contact your insurer to confirm what your plan covers. Keep in mind that any damage resulting from a DIY attempt to remove an ice dam will likely not be covered.

Mold can grow on garage ceiling insulation, which is why it’s important to install a vapor barrier behind the insulation and keep the space cooled and heated as you would your living area. Doing so will more or less eliminate the risk of mold growing on your garage ceiling insulation. You can also install a self-draining dehumidifier to help remove moisture, or opt for a foam board insulation or spray foam insulation that won’t harbor moisture and mold.

When it comes to fiberglass insulation versus foam board, there are a few notable differences, both aesthetically and functionally. Fiberglass insulation is soft and flexible, meaning it can be squeezed into tight spaces more easily than foam board. Fiberglass insulation also has a higher R-value, making it a better pick for colder climates. However, foam board insulation can resist moisture and pest damage much better than fiberglass.

Also known as sound-dampening blankets, acoustic blankets reduce echo in a room. They come in different thicknesses and materials, and they can be nailed or glued to walls.
