After signing the contract I was told we were on their rainy day schedule since it was spring and they were doing a lot of outside work. Should have cancelled then (this was the 1st of many "misunderstandings" as they claimed or excuses) but I assumed it was their way of possibly getting us started before wrapping up a few outside jobs they said they currently had in progress. I was wrong. A few weeks later, when they had only been here two half days (there had also been more rainy days than that), I requested we be penciled in for set dates. My request was ignored. I thought the half up front was for ordering the laminate I picked, the countertop board, glue, the sink, the faucet, a few 2 x 4s, a few drywall boards and some mud. I began to question this after the delays in work and materials. Calculated a total supply cost of approximately 500.00 - 600.00. Half down was 1848.00! I later found out the laminate wasn't ordered until mid- June when it was used as an excuse for further delay (had to be ordered) and at that time I was told it would take an additional 4-6 weeks to build the laminate countertops. Standard timeframe for a laminate countertop is about 2 weeks. I have since called places that do this to confirm the timelines. Rick ignored the contract and our requests and did what he wanted. When we requested corrections/fixes to work not done to standard or as agreed in the contract, we were greeted with resistance, followed by excuses for why it was done the way he did it, and refusal to make right unless we paid for change requests (again,we did not make changes, we asked for quality and corrections). When we persisted the work be corrected, Rick became aggressive/confrontational, raised his voice, used profanity, and made inappropriate comments (sexual and sexist in nature). Sue (his wife/business manager) also witnessed this behavior and was o.k. with it! After all the delays, the refusal to correct work to standard or as stated in contract, and the un acceptable responses/behaviors, we cancelled the contract. We have paid 3151.25 and in no way did we get what we paid for.
Contract signed 4/25/14. From 4/28/14 to 6/2/14 they were at our place a total of three ½ days and 1 full day. As of November they had not returned. 6 months later they had still not completed the small job. For 6 months the once finished area of the basement had unfinished plumbing, drywall, exposed wood studs, and bare electrical hanging out of the wall. Problems with quality/standards of work done: Rick hooked up hot/cold water and drain for the kitchenette sink using existing lines going to a bathroom in our basement. The lines Rick added were not secured and move when the bathroom faucet is turned on making a knocking sound. When noticed this and asked to fix, Rick responded it was too late because he had already installed the drywall. The kitchen sink faucet is in place but not hooked up. Contract stated the faucet was to be Delta, the faucet was a Price Pfister (a typically less expensive brand). The countertops are not standard. One side of the regular countertop is standard (25 inches deep) and the other countertop is not to standard (24 ¾ inches deep). This means the countertop will never over hang the door/drawer fronts as it should. These were also made with a wood inlay that does not match. The wood inlay was made up of two different types of wood (some appears to be pine and some oak) that has a lot of grain and variance in the color of the stain. The cabinets are cherry wood doors and drawer fronts in a nutmeg stain. Even if the countertops delivered had been to standard, the wood inlays are not the same color as the cabinets and did not match appearance of the cherry wood cabinets which have no grain. I never saw and do not have the raised bar counter top I paid for. Backsplash not standard. I paid for a standard kitchen (as stated in contract) and Rick attempted to install white PVC board as the backsplash (the laminate was a dark slate gray). When I addressed this, I was told a change request was needed and I?d have to pay extra for the standard back splashes ($277.00 extra) in matching laminate. In addition, the wall cabinets were hung to low (were supposed to be closer to ceiling leaving only enough space for crown molding trim we already had) and in turn the electrical outlets behind the counter top were low. This left only 12 inches of clearance between the counter top and bottom of wall cabinets (standard is 18 inches). No room for a blender, toaster, or microwave. Only 3 ½ inches of clearance from counter top to electrical outlets (standard backsplash is 4 inches). All needed to be raised to be right and Rick made excuses, got angry and did not move. Outside of standards, the counter top was not as stated in the contract. The counter top was to incorporate a basement post. The countertop cuts off at the basement post and was not designed to incorporate the post. Materials were different than what was agreed. In addition to the white PVC board that was not agreed to, they were supposed to use bead board or wainscott to finish out the backside of cabinets/under raised bar and the sides of cabinets. Although it was not brought in and we never saw, when we inquired (after other discrepancies were obvious) we were told it was luan.
Problems with door framing standards. After the initial contract was proposed, we added a change request to extend a utility closet wall and move/reframe the closet door. Rick told us the existing door would work in the new opening and we did not need to purchase a smaller door. The door was moved and framed incorrectly. The door trim is recessed and flush with the drywall, not on top as it should be. The door was supposed to be cut off at the bottom to fit under the heating /air duct soffit. This was not done. Also, the existing wall was somewhat out of square. Rick's solution was to shave thetrim on the left side of the door frame as it gets closer to the ceiling and the door trim at the top was cut in half. Instead of telling us a smaller door would be needed to ensure the trim was not right up against the wall and allow for centered in opening he installed and shaved the trim as it went up the wall. Basically, it was a full 2 3/4 inch trim at the bottom, about 1/2 way up it began running into the wall and is shaved on the edge to be about an 1 inch in total smaller at the top of the door. When we saw this I asked for it to be made right. I was all for and agreed to purchase a smaller door, cut to order for the opening. Rick would not correct the botched framing without us paying a change request which was more than the original request paid to exten"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ky/./a-b-c-reviews-7966343.htm"},"position":9}]}

This was a small job we were told wouldn't take more than 5 days in total. It is still not complete, we have cancelled in lieu of making the final install (3151.25 already paid! and I feel stupid trusting and paying for nothing but trouble) and we will need to hire (pay again) someone else to...

"There’s nothing like having the best of the best. I’ve used the other big security names before like Vivint and Brinks. They are OK. But after getting acclimated with ADT, it is clear why they are the best. Pricing is fair, equipment is reliable, and every one genuinely seems happy at their job. This goes a long way to a paying customer. Just our perspective for anyone else that is considering all of the big providers in the alarm system landscape. ADT is well well worth it."

FAQs for security door installation projects in Shelbyville, KY
The average cost of a home security system is about $700, ranging from $280 to $1,150. Costs to consider include equipment, surveillance fees, and other additional features. Cost factors that determine your system’s price include the type of security system, materials, labor, activation fees, monthly fees, and permits.
Additional features and upgrades may include:
Video surveillance monitoring: $40–$65 per month
Smart home locks: $150
Smart home lighting: $15–$90
Smart smoke, fire, and carbon monoxide alarms: $35–$100
Smart thermostat: $130–$500
Door installation usually takes three and four hours, including removing the old door and frame, fitting the new door and frame in place, shimming it to make sure it’s perfectly level, and making adjustments to the hinges and locking mechanisms to ensure proper functionality. A door-hanging professional can replace an interior door in between one and two hours. Door installation will take significantly longer if your installer needs to create a wall opening, and it can take less time if the existing door frame remains.
The average cost to install a door is around $1,100, but you could pay anywhere from $150 for a hollow-core interior door installation up to $2,000 or a high-end exterior door installation. There are a few cost factors to consider to get an accurate price, including whether your wall opening exists, the type of door, the quality and security of the door, whether you need to replace the frame, and the door size. You can expect to pay $150 to $700 for a standard 36-by-80-inch door and between $400 and $1,600 for an80-by-48-inch door.
Yes, a home security system can be worth it for your peace of mind alone, but it can also save you up to 20% on your home insurance. The insurance savings will help defray the initial setup costs and subscription costs over time. Locations with higher crime rates also make home security systems a valuable investment, but it ultimately depends on your personal preferences and asset values.
It’s possible to install a door yourself if the wall opening already exists, but the work is rather complicated, and a professional installation is usually well worth the investment. For your door to work and close properly, you’ll need to shim and level the door frame in your wall perfectly, which can be difficult. Additionally, we recommend you always hire a professional door installer to place an exterior door, as mistakes during the installation process can lead to poor security for your home.
