"Absolutely terrible work, even worse communication.. I tipped the 2 guys who did a majority of the work personally.. I would invite ANYONE to come and see the monstrosity that they call "work". The driveway is wavy, lines aren't close to straight, was told, I didn't ask for a "restamp"? That's why it's just broomed... dont even get me started on the crooked and undeveloped walls... lesson learned the hard way.. "

Yes, finishing concrete can be difficult to achieve a perfect result, although most people can finish concrete. Knowing when to trowel, how long to wait before touching the slab, and how to help it cure evenly all takes time and experience. However, the only way to gain that experience is to give the project a shot, and we suggest starting with a smaller project like a small concrete pad first.

The cost to overlay or resurface a garage floor averages about $3 to $9 per square foot, depending on the preparations involved, the size of the floor, and the type of finish. Some decorative topcoats like stamped concrete and ornate overlays can cost from $7 to $20 per square foot, depending on the complexity of the design and finish.

You can apply an exposed aggregate finish to existing traditional concrete, but you’ll need to resurface the concrete and include aggregate in the top layer of concrete. You’ll also need to prepare the surface beforehand to ensure a good bond between the materials. Adding exposed aggregate is a job best handled by a concrete professional.

The biggest downside to resurfacing concrete is its lifespan. Concrete resurfacing lasts for five to ten years, on average, while a new concrete slab would last for 20 to 30. The cost of concrete resurfacing is much lower, but you get more value from full replacement. Resurfacing also doesn’t address any underlying issues with your slab, so you may need additional repairs, like mudjacking.

Polished concrete gets its glass-like finish from several rounds of polishing, using increasingly finer grit diamond grinding pads. The concrete’s hardness will determine which grits you need to get your desired finish.
