Had Mills Fence install privacy fence 15 years ago. I was extremely happy with my original experience. When it came time to replace the fence I contracted them to replace the fence they originally installed. Mills Fence Co. did not manage their subcontractor. When I reported challenges with communicating with installer and installation concerns, I was told he was a good installer and my concerns were dismissed. Repeatedly called regarding concerns. They never called to ask how the project was going and never followed up at the end. I had to clean up the yard and remove concrete from established gardens. Damaged concrete sidewalks by leaving concrete mix on sidewalk when it was raining. I strongly advise not hiring them and if you do please insist that someone from the installation department walk through the scope of work with installer and owner to confirm exceptions.

HORRIBLE. UNPROFESSIONAL. POOR WORK. Their workers damaged our property and they refused to repair our new French drains. This was after we were given the run around for 6 MONTHS and then a random woman and her small child were sent to our house only to find out they never submitted our permits. We had no clue that they don’t do their own work and instead outsource everything to random civilians that can’t follow instructors. They refuse to give you a set date for install. They won’t return calls. And they require THOUSANDS in advance just to make you wait HALF A CALENDAR YEAR. This company should NEVER be used, and I hope someone from their office reads this and decides to finally get back to myself or my wife. DO NOT WASTE YOU’RE MONEY.

If you value your time and money, I strongly encourage you to spend your money elsewhere! the first install left a line of the fence so crooked they had to redo an entire 40 foot section. It was so bad, friends laughed and asked us if the installers were "on something"....how embarrassing to have paid over $6000 for such a crappy job. The side gate didn't close because the installer said he didn't measure correctly. I understand mistakes happen and was glad to see they initially came back fairly quickly to "fix" the issue. Everything seemed fine for a while until the gate wouldn't close again! They came back numerous times to "fix" the issue, and it would work for only a little while. Very frustrating! Most recently they insinuated we wanted free work and were told they would no longer provide "warranty" work. In my opinion, it's not "warranty" work if problems existed from day one! We are now stuck with a gate that won't close, dogs that are getting out of the yard, and a feeling of disgust for Mills Fencing. They are happy to take your money for a less-than-par product. Mind you, we did have a fence prior to this install that never had any issues for the lifetime of the fence. it was installed by Chestnut's in Independence. We should have used them again, but didn't because they couldn't get to us as quickly. It would have been worth the wait!

We gave Mills Fence many chances to make things right and they failed. We're not fence experts, so we hired a fence company to install a fence for us. We don't know what's needed for a driveway gate, so we hired someone to handle the details and install it for us. When we asked Ces Navera at Mills Fence if they were capable of installing a horizontal wood slat fence and driveway gate on our property, he said yes. He sent us a quote, we scheduled and paid for the work. They installed the wood fence and gate (and a chain link fence) in March of 2017. Jason G. was the lead installer. We followed all care instructions given to us. Within about 9 months, the gate doors started to lean in onto themselves, making them difficult to open and close. We didn’t know what the problem was – again, we’re not fence experts – but knew this was clearly within the year warranty, so we called to have it fixed. We were told repeatedly over several months that someone would come out to take a look, but we continued to have to call to follow up after not receiving a call back and not seeing anyone. Finally, in April of 2018, someone called us back. When we explained the problem once again, they claimed we were no longer within the 1-year warranty. Hilarious. Classic terrible company scheme: wait it out! We pushed back and a couple guys came out that week. The guys who came out were clearly annoyed they even had to be there and said that the hinges just needed to be moved. Once again, we’re not fence experts, so we believed them. Silly us. They also drilled new holes in the asphalt driveway that looked terrible, but whatever. As long as the fence doors we paid for worked…you know, opened and closed. And they did work! For 2.5 years. Then they got bad again. So, 3.5 years after Mills Fence provided their services and charged us for them, we have a driveway gate that doesn’t work and will cost $750 to fix. After talking with multiple fence repair companies, we learned that Mills Fence never installed the gate correctly. The hinges they moved in 2018 only rigged the problem to buy them time to get out of warranty. It didn’t fix the problem. Something the warranty is supposed to cover. All 3 companies told us the 4x4 posts Mills used were not substantial enough to hold the gate doors, that they needed to be 6x6. It wasn't a matter of accounting for settling or wood expansion, but a matter of poor engineering and planning. Estimates for replacing these posts to make the gate usable are $750-$850. We will also need to restain the new wood. We called Mills Fence in late September of 2020 to give them another chance to make it right. After we explained the situation, Sean told us someone would call back soon. Days later, after no one called, we called to give them one final chance and were told again by Sean someone would call. No one did of course. So here we are. Shame on Mills Fence.

Mills was great to deal with in every way. They responded to our initial request for an estimate promptly and professionally. On the day of the install, Mario showed up on time and worked hard to get the fence built in one day despite one of his crew not being able to make it. Mario was courteous and great to work with. And the fence looks wonderful. This is the second time we've used Mills, and we give them our highest recommendation!

Fantastic- they were by far the best bid we got. They were quick, professional and even got the job done two weeks earlier than anticipated!

Great! They even tore down & removed the old fences & lamppost & hauled them away at no extra charge. They were able to do the work a week early too. Several neighbors have stopped by to say how nice it looks. Came back promptly to adjust one of the gates. My dogs & i send a big thanks to Gina, Joe & Gio!

They were friendly I'll give them that. However they installed the fence incorrectly, at the wrong part of the house! This was after they received the fence plot from their company and a copy of the professional survey we had done to make sure the fence could go in properly. In addition I physically walked the perimeter of the fence with them and stood at all the edges. Even putting a rock at the corners! When I saw them put post 20ft off the plan, I went out and told the workers- that the fence always goes at the back of the house then told me if I put the fence on the side of my house instead of the back the city would come a tear it down. (What?!?) I called the company repeatedly, got transferred and told I'd be called back. The men working were clearly not understanding, they said they move it if I wanted but the city could come tear it down. It was such a mess at that point I told them to leave it. (Wednesday) I called and called never getting a straight answer their company seems to shut down after 4pm. We come back to our home Monday and they're there working finishing the incorrect fence. A day or so later I finally get ahold of someone. She doesn't budge she tells me she's talked to her employee extensively about the issue. (This was before I even explained what happened). That they would move it and charge me an additional $150 for labor... (Labor that was supposed to be preformed in the first place!) They sent someone out to see the issue, I wasn't home but I had a teenager there who said they stand for over an hour knocking. I stayed as nice as I could the entire process. I wish in hindsight I stood my ground and made this flakey company fix the issue they caused on a fence that cost over $2,000 dollars. After the colossal headache they agreed to take about $200 off the price. The billing was another nightmare, several calls from several people wanting payment for the wrong amount and more calls after we already paid them! What a nightmare! Now on top of it all the driveway gate they installed isn't working properly. I would not recommend them to client or a friend.

It took the crew three weeks to install a simple backyard fence. They showed up between 11 and 12 each day and left around 4. When we called the company we were told that it was "not their business" to know where their crews were located. The crew did not clean up after themselves. They left a large pile in the backyard that was difficult to clean up. They broke our newly installed fire pit as they put they installed the fence. In the process of backing out of our driveway one day they pulled the electric service from out house. CG and E and our electrician had to be called to reattach it. Finally our gates were installed upside down. New gates were ordered and were just installed this week, seven months later. They came to our house to install the gates but did not tell us they were coming. We did receive two phone calls telling us what an inconvenience it was for their crews to drive all the way out to our house only to find locked gates. The gates were not locked. They were broken because of how they were installed. If they would have called and told us they were coming we would have told them that, again. They immediately called and left a very threatening phone call as to what would happen if we did not pay the bill promptly.

We had a tree fall on the KBF and were prepared to pay $650 for the repair of two & a half of the panels, and a small section of the aluminum fence. The scheduling person, who is not particularly polite, called to say they would be here at 9am. It is 7pm and though they were supposed to have called ahead, they appeared, all three men smoking and running their truck and trailer through our grass. When I asked them to put their cigarettes out and to please stop driving through the grass, they back the trailer up and left, without word. This behavior was consistent with the encounters we'd had on several other occasions, though they were a different installation team.
I caution anyone who is considering Mills Fence Company. They are consistently rude, late (if they show) and unprofessional. I contacted their company to discuss this matter with the owner, leaving messages, but have yet to hear back.

They were very good. When I pointed out that they had brought the wrong gate, they didn't question me about that. They just looked into the mistake, admitted it was their fault and took care of it right away.

Got estimates from 3 Fence Installers and Mills "SAID" they could do it the quickest (3 weeks) so we went with them. They were scheduled to do the install on a Tuesday, Tuesday came and went, Wed came and went, Thursday came and went and NO ONE called or came to install the fence. I called them on Friday and they just said "yea, we are running behind" we will be there on Monday.
Monday at 3pm - no sign of them so i called again - "not sure why they are not there".... They showed up at 4pm and installed the fence in the rain making a muddy mess out of my yard. They did not bring the right gates so they fenced in the two gate areas with the fence liner and left.
No call and no gates - Monday/Tues/Wed ......
I call again on Thurs - "I will find out and call you back this evening". Guess what - No call back.....
I call again on Friday - "We may not be able to install gates until next week but not sure" Meanwhile my mower is fenced in and I cant mow my yard. I ask if they can cut the wire on one of the gates so I can get my mower out. "I dont know if we can do that" I offer to go buy wire cutters and do it myself and they can take the price off my bill. "You will need to talk to my supervisor" Wait on hold for 30 minutes and no one even answers. No one even bothers to call me back.
Still sitting with no gates and my own expense to buy a tool just so I can mow my yard.
I highly recommend going with EADS or another Fence company as the Customer Service at Mills is a joke. I will ensure never to use them again.

The job could have been completed in two days at the most. It drug on for a two weeks. The workers showed up between 11 and 12 each day and left around four. One day they took a two hour lunch. According to the office it takes a while to load up and get to the site which is why they showed at noon every day. The materials, however, were stacked in our yard the first day and left with the old fence to kill the grass. We are unsure what they were picking up each day. Weather was certainly an issue and understandable but four hour work days will not install a fence. Contacting management did not help as they assured me the job would be done that day. The workers arrived and told me it would be completed the next day and then it took an additional day.
