"I estimate I have just under $100k in electronics and appliances in my house. We have significant lightning storms in my location. To NOT have lightning suppression installed is significant risk in my mind based on my location in New Jersey. RS LIGHTNING PROTECTION was responsive with a quick cost estimate and a reasonable price based on my research for installation. By the way...installation is part art, such as bends in cable are not more than 90 degrees. It's not just about running grounded cables. This installation in conjunction with surge protection on my electrical panel performed by my electrician and cable protection gives me significant piece of mind that all my appliances and electronics are protected from lightning and any potential surge generated by a near strike. Mr Richard Sherlock knows his subject. Highly recommended. Five stars."

"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Monticello’s humid subtropical climate, with frequent thunderstorms and high summer humidity, makes electrical safety a top priority. Moisture-resistant wiring, weather-sealed outdoor outlets, and whole-home surge protection are essential to guard against lightning strikes and water intrusion. Because ice storms can down power lines, underground utilities and robust weatherhead installation are especially valuable. Scheduling electrical work during Monticello’s drier, milder months helps avoid weather-related delays.

Helpful?

Once electrical work is finished in Monticello, schedule a final inspection to confirm code compliance and restore power if needed. Keep all project documentation for insurance and future home sales. Test GFCI outlets and surge protectors before storm season, and update your homeowner’s insurance to reflect new improvements. Register warranties for any new electrical equipment to ensure coverage in Monticello’s unpredictable weather.

Helpful?

Begin by confirming permit requirements and coordinating with your utility provider in Monticello. Plan major electrical work for early spring or late fall to avoid delays from storms or extreme temperatures. Source materials from local suppliers to minimize wait times. Book inspections in advance, as rural scheduling can be limited. Consider backup power solutions and group related projects to reduce disruptions and maximize efficiency for your Monticello home.

Helpful?

In Monticello, address urgent issues like sparking outlets, burning odors, or exposed wires right away, especially before the spring and summer storm season. Electrical repairs affecting sump pumps or HVAC systems should be prioritized before peak weather changes. Upgrades such as adding circuits or installing smart home features can be planned for milder months, but always factor in permit timelines and local contractor availability.

Helpful?

In Monticello, persistent flickering lights after heavy rain, rust or corrosion on outdoor panels, and musty odors near outlets often signal moisture intrusion or storm damage. If you notice frequent breaker trips during humid months or outdated wiring in older homes, these are warning signs. Loose exterior conduit or improperly sealed junction boxes are common in Monticello’s rural homes and may require prompt attention.
