"We have an old 1930's house that needed a large chimney repointed and cap replaced. Rod at Layman Masonry and his team were referred to us by our roofer, Kelvin Howard, for doing good work. We contacted Rod for a quote, and he came out the very next day to quote a price that was good considering the amount of work to be done. Rob and his team are insured and were courteous and friendly throughout the project. They showed up on time and maintained a clean job site. The project consisted of grinding out and replacing the old mortar, a new chimney cap and to put two coats of paint back on the chimney. The project was completed in 4 days despite rain every other day. We were very happy with the work done and will use Rod again in the future."

You have many options when it comes to hiring a professional painting contractor. Some people like to base this decision on price alone and hire whoever will do the work the cheapest, they sacrafice quality for a low price. Others sometimes overpay for the quality they recieve, in other words they pay for more then they actually get in return. I started In Demand Painting with a lofty goal, I wanted my company to live up to it's name. I wanted to provide customers with the very best work around for a fair price, and in return I wanted to become their painting contractor of choice. I want my customers to understand that their home is normally the biggest investment they will ever make, and that a poor paint job not only looks bad but can actually damage their home. Unprotected surfaces can rot and fail, causing sometimes thousands of dollars worth of repairs. High quality paints and coatings applied in a proper manner can help prevent these types of damage, but many contractors skimp in these areas. They either use inferior or watered down products or they apply them in a manner which doesn't allow the product to perform properly. I take great pride in know that all paints and coatings applied by In Demand Painting meet or exceed the manufacturers specifications. This not only allows the paint and coatings to look their very best and to properly protect the surfaces they are applied to, but also makes the paint manufacturers warranty valid in case an issue should ever arise. I believe that every job no matter how big or how small is a direct reflection on my company. Drywall sheets are attached to the joists using screws, ensuring a secure and stable installation. Before attaching the drywall, it's important to mark the joist locations on the ceiling, allowing for accurate screw placement. Proper spacing between screws and careful taping and mudding of joints are crucial to creating a smooth and flawless ceiling surface. If the joists are in good condition and level, installing drywall directly on them is a practical and efficient approach.

Certain drywall textures, like sand and sometimes popcorn, can be smoothed by applying skim coats, sanding the walls, or chipping away the texture. However, it’s worth considering removing the texture and starting with a blank canvas. Smoothing textured walls requires a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease and can take longer than just outright removing the texture.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors. 

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. Once you screw in the drywall sheet, drill a small hole into the box void, insert the spiral saw bit, and move it around the edge of the box using the inside wall as a guide. You can also use an oscillating multi-tool with an electrical box cutout for fast, professional results.

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.
