"The technician emptied the freezer, which was in the basement, to work on the part that needed repair. Then he neglected to put anything back into the freezer, including a turkey I had bought for Christmas and a rack of ribs. Two days after he left, I went out of town for two weeks. The turkey actually exploded and spewed its liquid all over everything, which had to be discarded. I let AHS know and they couldn't even bother to call me or follow up on this. I'm considering not renewing my contract with them because of the quality (or lack thereof) of many of the providers they send."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Deciding between an engineered septic system and a conventional one depends on property size, soil quality, local regulations, and environmental factors. If your property has limited space, poor soil, or is close to sensitive environmental features, an engineered system may be required. Professional site evaluations, considering water usage, long-term plans, and budget constraints, can help determine the appropriate choice. Consulting with a septic system professional is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulations and selecting the best system for your property's unique needs.

You can find your septic tank using a few different methods. For one, you can check your property records at your local municipal office. You can also inspect your yard looking for a depression, a septic tank lid, or lush septic-area vegetation which would indicate a leach field. You can also follow your pipes from the home to the yard. If you can't find your septic tank on your own, a local septic pro can help.

You should never park or drive on top of a septic field. Vehicles can weigh upwards of two tons, and this weight can put a lot of pressure on the leach lines in the drain field. Too much pressure on your leach lines may cause them to warp, crack, or completely burst. This is an expensive and very avoidable problem.

Most deep wells can be expected to last somewhere between 30 and 50 years. This assumes that the well and all of its components are properly maintained on a regular basis. During this time, it is unlikely that modern deep wells will run dry over the course of their typical lifespan. That is one of the biggest benefits of digging a deeper well.

There are many potential causes of low well water pressure. The most common include sediment buildup, leaking pipes, a failing well pump, or a cracked pressure tank.
