We're Wayde, Iris, and Carrie Barnes, the founders and operators of DogWatch of Southern Kentucky. We install and service underground pet fences in 44 counties in Southern Kentucky and 12 counties in Northern Tennessee that lie along the Kentucky border. DogWatch of Southern Kentucky has been in business for 17 years. We currently serve over 1,600 customers in Southern Kentucky and many areas of Northern Tennessee. The ratio is 1.67 dogs perhousehold, so we estimate that these customers represent over 2,672 dogs, and appoximately 20 cats we've successfully trained on the system. We have no employees and don't hire any contract labor, so all of the work is performed by us. We're all fully trained and have a combined 30 years of experience between us. One of the most important parts of a successful containment is the training of your dog. That's why our company policy is that your dog will always be trained by one of the owners of our company, no exceptions. We'll complete the initial 1/2 hour training session as soon as we finish the installation, and then work with you to finish the training over the next week or so. Anything less than a 100% containment of your dog is unacceptable. When you've made your decision to purchase a DogWatch Hidden Fence from us, you'll have purchased the "Top-Of-The-Line" in dog fences. Your total price will include installation labor (500' of wire included), a lifetime warranty against lightning strikes, water damage (waterproof receivers), dog chews, two years worth of batteries, and professional training as needed.

"DogWatch of Southern Kentucky installed our new underground fence today for our wild child. They are very friendly and answered any questions we had. You can’t tell that our yard was ever touched. Highly recommend DogWatch of Southern Ky. Wayde was recommended to us by our neighbor."

"They take NO responsibility. My neighbor hired them and they punctured my main water line to my house and told me their contract said they were not liable. No remorse, no help from either Shuck or my neighbor. Eight days later I repaired it myself. Bad company, worse neighbor. I would have given them "ZERO" stars."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

On most untreated wood fences, there is no need to sand before treating. You typically only need to sand if there’s an old coat of paint or stain on your fence. If you do need to sand off a previous paint or protective coating (like an old stain or sealant), use medium-grit sandpaper.

A split rail fence is not typically considered among types of dog fencing. Many dogs are small enough to slip out between or under rails, and dangerous pests like coyotes can slip in. However, adding wire mesh to a split rail fence can add the security needed for dog safety without compromising the timeless look that makes the split rail style appealing.

Rust, bent or broken bars, loose posts, and weakened welds are common problems that require repair to maintain security and appearance.

Yes, fence posts should be set in concrete to provide the proper support for the fence. If you notice your fence posts leaning, you’ll need to learn how to brace a fence post to fix the problem and prevent further damage from occurring. By bracing a fence post properly, you’ll provide stability and sturdiness to your fence for years to come.

You can use pressure-treated wood for a horizontal fence, but you’ll need to purchase a thicker and higher-quality variety to ensure it doesn’t sag or warp after you install it. Use #2 pine grade lumber and boards and thicker dimensional lumber, such as a two-by-six. You’ll also need to use stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners, as the chemicals in the treated lumber will cause regular galvanized fasteners to rust.
