"September 26, 2017 On Feb. 2, 2017 our installers dense packed sound deadening cellulose in Ms. R's empty bedroom walls. We plugged and patched the holes. We also installed sound attenuation Rockwool batt insulation in her basement ceiling, below her bedroom and bath areas, held tight with support hangers. When our salesman was performing the original evaluation, it was explained to Ms. R that we can only insulate the space between the floor joists. The floor joists themselves are a conduit between the flooring and the basement, and will not stop vibrations or noises, from walking, sub woofers, and other activity. We addressed Ms. R's complaints in a timely manner. We added material to both the walls and ceilings at no extra charge. Ms. R remains un satisfied. We fulfilled our contract. Ms. R is using this forum to try to damage our company because she lost her disputes with both her bank and credit card company. We are sorry that she will not accept this outcome and move on. Sincerely, The Management American Insulation Technologies"

"Thank you. It was a pleasure helping you with your insulation needs. I believe you will be just as pleased when you receive your energy bills this winter."
SUMMARY: Dissatisfied. Based on the low-quality of workmanship, I?m not convinced this company knows a lot about proper home insulation techniques. The owner is friendly enough, but seems like a do-it-yourselfer that decided to get into the insulation business. I would not recommend this company.
The area to insulate was a 4?x30? floor extension beyond the foundation (a bump-out). When the home was built, the builder did a poor job of insulating, resulting in cold floors in the winter, warm in the summer. ATI was to correct the problem. After coming out to estimated the job, they produced a proposal, which I accepted.
To insulate this area requires taking off the underside of the bump-out to expose the floor joists overhanging the foundation. For each joist area: remove the old insulation, place rigid insulation at the back (to box it off from the basement), seal the top and back with foam insulation, place fiberglass insulation between each joist, and finally put it back together.
Where to begin?
1) The joist areas were not properly sealed. This is the most serious problem because cold air can easily penetrate between the joists, which makes the fiberglass insulation useless.
2) The seams between the base plate and the foundation weren?t sealed. When I pointed this out, the installer said, ?I?ll spray it if you want me to.? Two different types of building material come together (wood against concrete) and this is major source of air leaks. I should not have to point this out.
3) The installer said it?s better to ?pack the insulation in tight so it works better?. This is incorrect. Insulation should NOT be packed densely.
4) Sprayed foam around a floor vent, broke the vent due to foam expansion, so that foam was sprayed into the living room onto newly finished hardwood floors. Not good.
After discussing these issues with the owner, they sent someone out to see the work (BJ). BJ agreed the job was not done correctly and said that someone from AIT would call me to schedule re-work. No one called. A week and half later, I called them and got rework scheduled.
The date for rework was scheduled, but no one showed up. I called and they said the person would be out the next morning. Again, no one showed up. I called the owner, they scheduled yet another date, and this time someone showed up.
The rework was done by BJ, who did a fine job of correcting the problem areas. I wish he (BJ) had done the original work.
"Thank you, we enjoyed working with you."
