Customers say: True professional

"Mario and his team were excellent. When they arrived they started to work immediately removing the old bushes, trimming existing plants, clearing the beds, adding new plants/bushes , mulch and planting grass seeds. They even fixed a part of my brick wall that was missing some stones. They did a great job!"

Small jobs welcome

"Brian stays in contact and communicates very well with the customer from the time he is hired until the job is completed. We had a couple small changes in the job and Brian was happy to make the changes so we would be completely satisfied with his work. Brian stayed focused on getting the job started and finished on time."

"Great work. They did a summer cleanup for me and my husband that involved a lot of dirt and weeds from a previous installation of a flower bed. Looks brand new. Worth the cost and I have them maintaining the vicinity of where they cleaned up."

"It went great. He came up with a great design. They had themes cleaned up in no time. He came in $1,000. less than another bid from Creech's for the same work. Did some mulching at no charge, providing the mulch and having his guys spread it. Even replaced the shovel the first group stole with a band new one. I love my wall and people who visit, just rave about the work and the way it truned out."

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.

Through proper drainage solutions and compacting the foundation soil.

Generally speaking, a retaining wall should be between 3 and 4 feet high, depending on variables such as the wall-building material, the purpose of the retaining wall, and more. If you want your retaining wall to be taller than 4 feet, check with your local building ordinance office for the maximum allotment. You may also need a special permit for retaining walls over 4 feet tall.

Regular inspection for issues like cracks or leaning and ensuring drainage stays clear.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.
