"Had a pipe break and flood a section of our finished basement. Kevin with Anthony showed up diagnosed the problem and then recommended a drying company. He called them and they showed right up. Seamless process."

"overall good. All these guys worked very hard to get it done. When hiring a waterproofing company to waterproof a basement I would expect the company to fix any water issues coming into the basement that was uncovered during the process. When we tore sheetrock off the basement wall in one corner we seen a water issue letting water to come in to the bedroom. One guy told us that it was above his pay grade. We had to go thru 2 different handymen before we got it resolved. Again you all advertise waterproofing basements with a lifetime warranty. Other than that your people worked hard to complete our job so please let them know. Thanks."

"I needed some foundation support for a concrete basement in my 70+ year old home. A sump pump and pit was installed where before there was only a floor drain. Advanced offered a great solution for below-ground PVC drainage system from 3 downspouts to clear water more than 10 feet away from my basement walls. There was an extreme rain event where 4" of rain fell in about 5-6 hours. In addition, during the rain event just after its peak, there was a power outage in the neighborhood for about 2 hours. The seepage was very minor compared to past rain events for drying the floor slabs. Lesson learned: opt for either the battery-backup option on the sump pump or have a battery-powered generator for the major appliances. Roger and his crew explained the process of the system as they were installing and completed their work in the best and most efficient way. I was very happy with their work ethic and I would highly recommend them."

"Admittedly, I only had them waterproof my basement 2 weeks ago and we haven't had any especially heavy rain storms since. However, I haven't had any noticeable water issues since. The staff were very friendly, courteous and worked very hard. They were able to complete the work in just one day. Which surprised me, considering that their crew of three guys channeled the whole basement and installed two sump pumps. Their work definitely seems solid, so I wouldn't expect any issues. They did come highly recommended to me by my son, who had them do his basement as well and he hasn't had issues for over 2 years."

Basement Waterproofing FAQs, answered by experts

Installing storm windows can protect your home’s interior from heavy storms. Most storm windows are made with enamel-coated aluminum with screens and sliding glass panels. They also make your house more energy-efficient. The average storm window cost is $12,000, ranging between $4,250 and $19,850, depending on mounting, window types, glass types, and frame materials.

Regular inspections, maintaining proper grading around the foundation, and keeping gutters clear are advisable. Vapor barriers and sealants may need checking for wear after several years.

Whether your homeowners insurance covers slab leak repairs depends on your specific policy and the cause of the leak. Many policies cover slab leaks resulting from a covered peril, such as a natural disaster, a falling tree, or pipes freezing and bursting within the slab. However, damage caused by invading tree roots, corrosion, or leaks from appliances may not be covered by a standard policy. It's a good idea to also check your home warranty plan for potential coverage if an appliance is the source. Contact your insurance provider for a full explanation of what your policy covers.

A walkout basement is considered to be partially below grade because at least one wall is entirely exposed. In some cases and in specific municipalities, inspectors and appraisers will still count walkout basements as below grade, which means the space can’t serve as living space or be rented out. If you intend on using the area as living space or a separate apartment, you should check with your local building department to make sure it’s legal to do so.

Standing water under your house can threaten its structural integrity. If water pools in your crawl space, it can damage the foundation and the structure above ground, causing wood rot, mold, and other problems. If you have a concrete foundation, standing water under your house can also make your foundation slabs crack.
