Customers say: Super punctual

"The work so far so good, they also did my concrete driveway about 5 years ago and they sealed the sidewalk and driveway. I was very satisfied with their work."

"William and the Road Co crew saved the day. I had another contractor string me along for months. I found Road Co and instantly got a response. I was told they were very busy but would get me on the schedule. As promised they came on the scheduled day 1.5 hours ahead of schedule. Everything went as planed with two coats of seal and chip. They even back filled the rock I had moved the night before. GREAT JOB AND WILL HIRE THEM IN THE FUTURE. THANKS GUY'S"

"Hired Outlook to build a walkway from our driveway around the side of our house to back patio (slopes quite a bit so needed stairs). Matt came out right away (in the snow!) to review job, draw up plans, and make recommendations on the type of pavers and style of walkway. When project started in spring, the 2 employees did an amazing job working on all the details. It was obvious that they take a lot of pride in their work and the walkway is beautiful. The walkway was built 2 years ago and still looks like new. I plan to hire them again for another project. Would (and have) highly recommend Outlook Hardcape."

"I had a great experience with general asphalt! My driveway was a unleveled mess and now it's beautiful! I wish I would have taken a before/after picture just to show what an amazing job they did. I highly recommend this company"

"I highly recommend Ed and his company crew. They did an excellent job on my concrete patio. The crew was professional, arrived on time, and paid close attention to every detail. The finished work looks great, and they left the area clean when the job was done. I’m very happy with the quality of their work and would definitely hire them again. Thank you for a job well done! Jose"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Driveway aprons typically range between four and seven inches thick, though your town's building codes will likely have specific requirements. Additionally, you may need to add a layer of permeable aggregate in the excavation below your paved apron to ensure proper stormwater drainage.

When asphalt cures, it typically changes from a very dark black hue to a lighter, more matte gray color. Cured asphalt also won’t be tacky or sticky to the touch or emit any odors from the asphalt mix. Additionally, the surface of fully cured asphalt won’t deform under any pressure.

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.

The material that’s best for your private road depends on your property, the climate in your area, and your personal preferences. Gravel is an affordable option, but some homeowners don’t like how it looks. It can be a pain to remove snow from, and it requires more ongoing maintenance than asphalt or concrete. However, while these other options require less maintenance and make snow removal a breeze, they’re more expensive and will need repairs from time to time. Ultimately, you’ll have to choose the road material that suits you and your property best.

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. Replacing your driveway may be necessary if you’re dealing with significant problems—¼-inch cracks, large potholes, and puddles from drainage issues. The cost to install an asphalt driveway typically ranges between $4,200 and $9,000, significantly more than resealing. Consider talking to a professional to discuss whether resurfacing your driveway—a midway project between resealing and replacing—is a better option for you.
