"They were extremely friendly and got the job done right the first time. I don't think it's possible to find a more professional cleaning service. They were all excellent with their work and did awesome at detail cleaning. I walked back into my home feeling refreshed and amazed all at once. It looked sparkling clean, smelled clean, and it was just all around fantastic. Great people, fabulous customer service, and wonderful skill."

"This review is a long time coming, but it does give me perspective since we have been living with these changes for a while now.The first project was started in late 2013 and finished in  January 2014. It consisted of moving the laundry room to the second floor of our home. The master bedroom is adjoined to the fourth bedroom where we decided to enlarge that room's closet for our washer and dryer, closer to all our bedrooms. The original laundry room was converted to a pantry. The other part of this project was enlarging our master bedroom walk-in closet. It was very narrow and divided into two areas by a wall and door. Young Remodeling managed the project well and had excellent contractors. They provided excellent quality  workmanship in all aspects of the project including extending hardwood flooring into the pantry, tiling the new laundry room floor, installing bi-fold doors, refinishing the ceilings and painting the walls and trim, building the pantry shelves, rerouting electrical and water services to the new laundry location and more. Total cost was about $25,000.
The second project was the kitchen remodel. This project was suppose to start in August 2014, the cabinetry had been received and they were ready to start demolition when a medical issue arose that meant we had to postpone the project. Young was very gracious to hold our new cabinetry in storage until we could restart the project in April, 2015. We had a new kitchen by the end of May. The project consisted of a radically different layout. We worked with Young's designer to come up with a great plan. They provided lots of drawings and paid attention to details to optimize our new kitchen. All of the cabinets were replaced and Young installed all of our new appliances. They re-stained the hardwood floor that extends into our family room. They rewired the kitchen and moved the canned light fixtures to better meet the needs of the new layout and installed our new pendant light fixtures over our new island. They refinished our ceiling, painted and the trim and walls. They figured out the best way to vent the new cook top from it's new location. They installed the new granite counter tops, the new exterior door and a large window. In the family room, in addition to re-staining the hardwood floor, they painted the walls and trim, refinished the ceiling and replace our original wood mantle with a stone mantle. The quality of their work was again outstanding. Both Jenny in the office and Rex in the field were very easy to work with. Rex came back recently(September) and fixed a cabinet problem and converted our pantry shelves from adjustable to fixed, for heavier loading at no charge! Total cost was about $60,000. This did not include the new appliances, window, sink and faucet or pendant light fixtures.
So, now over a 1 1/2 years from the first project and 4 months since the kitchen remodel... we love it all and wouldn't change a thing! We are now working on a list of changes we want to make in other parts of or house and Young Remodeling will be our first choice.

"It's hard to find a good contractor AND good workers for small projects- but if I want to build a bank, they're knocking down the door! As a single women, there are some things I can (and enjoy) doing around my house, but for other things, I've got to hire it out! I need to know who to call if my windows need replaced or if I need new siding on the house and the list goes on... I was SO relieved to finally find the guys to call! Benchmark Contractors is located in Topeka, KS but they gladly come to Lawrence to meet your building needs. SCORE! I truly enjoy working with the guys from Benchmark Contractors! I had them remodel the inside of my house a couple years ago and I am STILL getting compliments from that job. I'm a satisfied (3 time) customer and I have only praises for these guys. They were here on time each day (except when it rained) and breaked only for lunch. Every guy has their specialty or assigned jobs and ALL the guys do exceptional work. Everyone on the project (2-4 at a time) get along well together and respect each other. Anytime I have a question, I'll ask one of the workers or call the contractor, John Butler, who responds right away. I appreciate his promptness because even though I asked some crazy questions, I still need answers. No matter the question, I feel totally comfortable asking any of them as they arise. When they come in to do a job, they bring all the materials, tools, and workers. They work continuously every day and all day until the job is done. These guys don't leave your project for a week or two to go work on another job while you wait for them to return. THAT'S a big deal to me and I don't have the patience or sanity to tolerate the chaos. And when the job is done, they clean up, wash off and clear out. Recently, I had several people in the neighborhood compliment my choice of siding and the installation. Benchmark Contractors were beginning their third week of installation when one neighbor approached me. She said her siding was installed in three days and another said his was installed in one week... What kind of craftsmanship happens in three days? Five days? NOT MUCH I'd say! You can DEFINATELY see a difference between my installation and other installers. For pete's sake, my neighbor pointed out that her installer NEVER bothered to install siding around her chimney on the roof! How do you miss that?! And now... the guy is out of business. Bummer! In sum, I wouldn't use anybody else for my building needs. You can, but I wouldn't advise it. If you want QUALITY work, done by guys with experience (and dare I mention INTEGRITY), then you'll want to call John Butler at Benchmark Contractors! You'll be glad you did, trust me...

Floor Cleaning and Waxing questions, answered by experts

Yes, many services offer waxing as part of the polishing process. Confirm with your provider.

Yes, you can polish an old cement floor. However, be aware that the first pass with the concrete grinder may reveal a few surprises and imperfections. You may also have to contend with the consequences of previous floor coverings, such as tile or carpet, which can leave a pattern in the concrete. Old concrete is more likely to produce uneven results if you want to use a dye or other coloring.

Baking soda is an excellent choice for a natural dog urine neutralizer. You can sprinkle it on a stain, leave it overnight, and then vacuum it in the morning to help rid your hardwoods of the dog urine smell. Hydrogen peroxide is another odor neutralizer, but be careful not to mix it with other household cleaners.

You can buff out small scratches or indentations from your hardwood floor, but refinishing is your best bet if you have larger areas that need work. Floors in relatively good shape but have lost their luster can be restored with thorough buffing. If your finish has worn off in areas or if you have sun or water damage, you should go with refinishing instead.

Regular sealing, proper drainage, and periodic inspections prevent premature wear and cracking.
